Atlético Nacional Adds Another Player: Marino Hinestroza Joins ‘Verdolagas’

On July 24, Colombia will witness another edition of its superclassic, featuring two well-known teams: Millonarios FC, led by Alberto Gamero and star player Radamel Falcao García, facing Atlético Nacional, managed by Pablo Repetto and featuring David Ospina. This match promises high tension, showcasing two of the most significant figures in the recent history of the Colombian national team.

In preparation for the match, Atlético Nacional announced on July 23 that Marino Hinestroza has joined the team on loan from Columbus Crew. This addition marks Nacional’s tenth reinforcement as they gear up for the Liga Betplay and Copa Betplay in the latter half of 2024.

An official presentation of the new signings took place on July 21, just before Nacional’s game against América de Cali, which they won 2-1 thanks to goals from William Tesillo and Edwin Cardona. The victory, coming from a comeback after trailing 0-1, keeps Nacional on a positive path as they aim to recover their form. The fans are hopeful, as the club hasn’t won the Colombian championship in two years.

It’s worth recalling that Nacional clinched their last title, their 17th overall, on June 26, 2022, at the Manuel Murillo Toro Stadium. They secured the championship with a 3-1 win at the Atanasio Girardot, with Jarlan Barrera’s goal sealing the deal and crowning the team as champions.

Hinestroza, a 22-year-old forward from Cali, kicked off his career with América de Cali’s youth system. He initially played in the U-20 category with “Los Diablos Rojos” before moving to Palmeiras, where he developed his skills from 2020 to 2022. After becoming a free agent, he signed with Pachuca in Mexico.

During his time with Pachuca, his contributions were less prominent than expected. This led him to the MLS with Columbus Crew, where he played 22 matches and scored two goals. His prior experience in Colombian football was with Orsomarso, where he participated in seven games, one as a starter, and later made 46 appearances with Pachuca, again scoring two goals.

Tonight at 8 PM, the Estadio El Campín will host another thrilling Colombian clásico as Millonarios take on Atlético Nacional, with Radamel Falcao leading the charge for Millonarios and David Ospina expected to feature for Nacional. The match will be broadcast on Win + Fútbol.

In this highly anticipated face-off, both teams will look to capitalize on their recent performances as they vie for supremacy in Colombian football.
