Corey Hendrix, star of the hit restaurant drama “The Bear,” has predicted that the beloved series could continue for at least four more seasons. Speaking at Stella Artois’ “Let’s Do Dinner” series in Los Angeles, Hendrix expressed his optimism about the show’s future, stating, “Of course, I want to say it can go on forever. But I think we can easily do like four more seasons or something.”
Hendrix, who portrays Gary “Sweeps” Woods, elaborated on the show’s progression, noting that while the first two seasons laid the groundwork, there is still much more to explore. “The first season is the introduction. The second season, it’s like we’re trying to see if we can build this restaurant and now [in season three] it’s like, okay let’s see what happens. Let’s see if this is a good idea,” he explained.
“The Bear” has been a critical darling, sweeping six awards at the 75th Primetime Emmy Awards, including Outstanding Comedy Series and Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series for Jeremy Allen White, who plays head chef Carmy Berzatto. The series, which debuted on FX in 2022, follows Carmy as he attempts to transform his late brother’s sandwich shop into a fine dining establishment.
The third season of “The Bear” is set to premiere on June 27, 2024, and has already been renewed for a fourth season, which was filmed back-to-back with the third. This decision was influenced by the busy schedules of the cast, including Ayo Edebiri and Jeremy Allen White, who have been involved in multiple other projects.
Edebiri, who plays sous-chef Sydney, has appeared in films like “Bottoms” and “Theater Camp,” as well as the animated hit “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.” White, on the other hand, has taken on roles in the wrestling drama “The Iron Claw” and is set to portray Bruce Springsteen in the upcoming biopic “Deliver Me from Nowhere.”
Despite the show’s success, Hendrix shared some humorous anecdotes about fan interactions. He mentioned that people often recognize him but can’t quite place where they’ve seen him. “People see me in random places and are like, ‘Hey, what’s up, chef?’ or ‘Hey, chef!’” he said, adding that he sometimes prefers to keep the mystery alive by responding, “I don’t know why I look familiar.”
As fans eagerly await the new season, it’s clear that “The Bear” has plenty of stories left to tell, with Hendrix and the rest of the cast ready to serve up more drama and culinary delights.
