Behind the Scenes of Glen Powells Parents Cameo in Twisters

Glen Powell, the actor known for his roles in “Hit Man,” “Top Gun: Maverick,” and “Anyone But You,” has a charming tradition that he upholds in every film he works on: ensuring his parents get a cameo. This tradition continues in his upcoming film “Twisters,” a sequel to the 1996 hit “Twister.” Powell recently shared a heartwarming behind-the-scenes video of his parents preparing for their cameo in the movie, which features a big rodeo scene.

In the video, Powell’s parents are seen getting ready for their moment in the spotlight. They go through hair and makeup, transforming into their cowboy personas for the rodeo scene set in Oklahoma. Powell’s excitement is palpable as he guides his parents through the process, making sure they are comfortable and ready for their roles. The video captures the genuine bond and affection between Powell and his parents, making it a touching glimpse into their family dynamic.

This isn’t the first time Powell’s parents have appeared in his films. They had a memorable cameo in “Anyone But You,” where they played fellow passengers on a plane with Powell and co-star Sydney Sweeney. Powell humorously recounted the experience, highlighting his father’s impressive method acting skills. “The funniest part about that scene in general is that my dad’s the real Method actor,” Powell told Entertainment Weekly. “He’s stone-cold asleep. I’m sitting there as Sydney is trying to do gymnastics over my face and quite often slipping and falling onto me, and I’m having to not break. Whereas my dad, he’s the Daniel Day-Lewis of sleep acting. There was not a false beat in that performance.”

Powell has often joked about his parents becoming too comfortable on movie sets. During an appearance on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,” he quipped, “They’ve had a cameo in every single movie I’ve done at this point. So like at first they were really excited for me to get new roles and stuff, and now all they’re concerned about is what they are gonna do in the movie. There’s like a nepo baby, they’re more like nepo mommy and nepo daddy.”

The actor’s parents have embraced their roles as “nepo parents” with humor and enthusiasm. They were spotted on the red carpet for Powell’s film “Hit Man” holding signs that read “Stop trying to make Glen Powell happen” and “It’s never gonna happen.” This playful trolling showcases the close-knit and supportive relationship they share with their son.

Powell’s connection with his family extends beyond the film set. In a 2019 interview, he revealed that his mother is a reader of Glamour magazine and shared how growing up with two sisters influenced him. “I grew up in a house full of women, so I grew up on rom-coms,” he said. He also mentioned that his upbringing taught him to be considerate and well-behaved in his own dating life. “I will say that I grew up with two sisters and a mom, so I have had an entire lifetime of making sure that I was on good behavior. Let’s just say there are a lot of florists in LA that are very happy with me.”

Powell’s parents have also offered him valuable advice on love and relationships. During an appearance on “The Jennifer Hudson Show,” Powell shared the wisdom his parents, who have been married for over 40 years, imparted to him. “You know they do give me love advice ’cause I do think love surviving that long in this world is really tough. I think you do have to have some tricks,” he said. “I think for them the thing that they always tell me is, ‘You gotta find somebody with a sense of humor.’ You know, life is inevitably gonna have highs and lows but you always have to have somebody that can see the silver lining, the bright side of things and just the humor whether it’s good or bad.”

The behind-the-scenes video of Powell’s parents in “Twisters” not only highlights their cameo but also offers a glimpse into the actor’s personal life and the strong family bonds that have shaped him. It’s clear that Powell’s parents play a significant role in his life, both on and off the screen.

As “Twisters” gears up for its release, fans can look forward to spotting Powell’s parents in their cowboy attire, adding a personal touch to the highly anticipated film. Powell’s tradition of including his parents in his movies is a testament to his love and appreciation for his family, making each of his projects even more special.
