The intimate five-song set was part of the grand opening celebration for JBJ’s, a new rooftop bar and restaurant owned by Jon Bon Jovi himself. This special event coincided with the release of Bon Jovi’s sixteenth studio album, “Forever.”
The performance was particularly significant given the ongoing concerns about Jon Bon Jovi’s vocal health. The singer underwent vocal surgery in 2022 and has been on a long journey to recovery. Recently, he confirmed that he would not be able to tour in support of the new album, stating that while he can sing again, performing for “two and a half hours a night, four nights a week” is not feasible.
Despite these challenges, Jon Bon Jovi’s voice was strong, albeit a bit pitchy, during the Nashville set. He brought his signature energy to the small stage, dancing and encouraging fans to sing along with him.
The surprise set kicked off with “Blood on Blood,” a powerful track from Bon Jovi’s 1988 album “New Jersey.” According to Setlist.fm, this was the first time the song had been performed live since 2019.
Midway through the set, Jon Bon Jovi addressed the crowd, acknowledging his absence from the stage. “It’s been a couple of years since I’ve been up on a stage with some people in the house,” he said. “Too long, too long. Yeah, it feels good. I hope it sounds good, because it feels good.”
He also took a moment to highlight Nashville’s significance in the band’s history, mentioning the extensive time they’ve spent writing and recording in the city. “I always jokingly say, Nashville, this is my people,” he added.
The event attracted several celebrities, including Motley Crue’s Vince Neil, Jelly Roll, and Big Kenny from Big and Rich. Among the night’s highlights were a spirited rendition of “You Give Love a Bad Name” and the lead single from “Forever,” titled “Legendary.”
