Mark Zuckerberg went viral on the 4th of July with an Instagram video showing the billionaire Facebook founder surfing a wave in a tuxedo while holding a U.S. flag and a beer. The video was accompanied with the caption “Happy Birthday, America” along with an emoji of a U.S. flag while the Bruce Springsteen song “Born in the U.S.A” played in the background. Five hours after the video was posted on Thursday afternoon, it had generated more than 350,000 likes and over 8000 comments.
The billionaire has been known to enjoy surfing and has posted similar videos to social media in the past. Three years ago on the 4th of July, Zuckerberg released a similar Instagram video showing him holding an American flag over John Denver’s “Take Me Home, Country Roads.”
Unlike in past years, Zuck’s latest surfing video garnered widespread praise by users on social media. Comments ranged from admiration to playful jabs, with many noting the unique combination of activities and attire.
Meta founder Mark Zuckerberg celebrated the Fourth of July in style – that is – in black tie. Zuckerberg posted a video to Instagram Reels where he was surfing, sipping on what appeared to be a can of beer, and flying Old Glory all while wearing a tuxedo. He captioned the Instagram post, “Happy birthday, America!” Zuckerberg’s video, featuring a patriotic combination of activities, had Bruce Springsteen’s “Born in the U.S.A.” playing as a soundtrack.
One commenter poked fun at Zuckerberg, joking that he had used Artificial Intelligence or A.I. to generate the video. Portnoy tweeted, “You can’t go from supremely uncool to cool by just trying hard. Zuck will always be uncool. I refuse to entertain the possibility he will ever do anything cool.”
Zuckerberg’s Instagram post currently has 480,000 likes. Happy Fourth of July! Mark Zuckerberg is back on his hydrofoil. The Meta CEO posted a video to Facebook and Instagram with the caption: “Happy birthday, America!” Ah, yes, our favorite 4th of July tradition: Mark Zuckerberg’s America-loving post. This year, he’s back surfing while waving the American Flag, sipping a can of beer, and wearing a tux — oh, and don’t forget the latest Zuck staple, a chain necklace.
It looks like he is also wearing a pair of Meta Ray-Bans, one of the company’s wearable tech products it’s been pushing heavily. The Meta CEO regularly posts a message to followers on the holiday. In years past, he’s posted a picture of him “smoking these meats” or surfing on a hydrofoil. To complete this year’s July 4th stunt, Zuckerberg topped off his video with Bruce Springsteen’s “Born in the USA” playing on the reel.
In the comments, he also gave a preview for his next potential look — growing out a mullet — and commented about getting active months after recovering from an ACL tear. “Pure 8 month post-recovery surfing with a dry start right here,” Zuckerberg wrote. The new style is a far cry from Zuckerberg’s infamous sunscreen look, where he smeared his face in what he said was an attempt to dodge the paparazzi. It didn’t work — and went viral.
Mark Zuckerberg had a fun July 4th. The Facebook CEO shared a video celebrating the US Independence Day surfing in a suit, with a beer can and American flag in his hands. “Happy birthday, America! 🇺🇸,” the 37-year-old billionaire wrote in the caption. The post has been liked more than 225,434 times on Instagram and has amassed 111K likes on Facebook so far.
Reacting to Zuckerberg’s celebration style, one user on X, platform formerly known as Twitter, wrote: “Recovery never looked better🇺🇸😎” “The waters so cold” me falling every second on the board😭 Zuck – “is it ?” Him effortlessly staying standing the whole time🤣🤣❤️” another person commented on his Instagram post. “When the business meeting and dinner ends at 5, but foiling starts at 6.🇺🇸” a third one added.
Zuckerberg also took the opportunity for some smart marketing. It looked like the Meta boss was wearing a pair of Meta Ray-Bans, one of his company’s wearable tech products. The 37-year-old’s video featured Bruce Springsteen’s “Born in the USA” playing in the background. “Pure 8 month post-recovery surfing with a dry start right here,” Zuckerberg wrote.
Only recently, Mark Zuckerberg announced that his social media platform Threads now has over 175 million monthly active users globally, with India emerging as the country with the most active users. The app had reached the 100 million mark within a week of its launch. However, it struggled to maintain engagement. Data from Sensor Tower revealed last month that users logged an average of three sessions and seven minutes per day on the app, representing a decline of 79% and 65%, respectively, compared to July of the previous year.
