BTS RM Reflects on Band’s 11th Anniversary and Time’s Unique Flow Outside Military Service
RM, the charismatic leader of the globally renowned K-pop group BTS, recently took a moment to reflect on the band’s 11th anniversary and the significant milestone of Jin’s discharge from military service. His heartfelt message, shared on the fan community platform Weverse, resonated deeply with fans around the world.
In his post, RM expressed a mix of emotions about the anniversary, admitting that his busy schedule had prevented him from leaving even a short message. “It was our 11th anniversary not long ago, but I’m afraid to say I was so busy that I couldn’t even leave a short message,” he wrote.
The post also highlighted Jin’s recent discharge from his 18-month military service. Jin, the eldest member of BTS, was officially discharged last Wednesday. Although safety concerns prevented an official event, RM, along with J-Hope, V, Jimin, and Jungkook, visited the site to show their support. Suga, who is currently fulfilling his service as a social worker, was the only member absent.
To celebrate Jin’s return, RM added a playful touch by playing the group’s hit song “DYNAMITE” on his saxophone. This gesture was a testament to the strong bond and camaraderie that the members share.
Reflecting on his own military life, RM shared, “After being out after a while, I realize that time indeed flows differently outside. Even gravity feels different.” He noted that life continued smoothly without him, which left him feeling somewhat empty. However, the reunion with his fellow members was a heartwarming experience. “It was great to gather with all the members after such a long time and share heartfelt conversations along with a drink … I really missed these people,” he recalled.
RM also mentioned how Jin used to express his longing for the members, a sentiment that RM now deeply understands. “Meeting them face to face made me realize what hasn’t changed, where I belong, and who I am. It was a meaningful time for all of us,” he added.
The singer extended his gratitude to the loyal BTS fans, known as ARMYs, and reassured them of the group’s promising future. “Just knowing that so many people still wait for us and love us is enough,” he wrote. “I’ll spend each day thinking of the members and all of you. I love you. Thank you. Let’s look forward to the next early summer.”
RM is scheduled to be discharged from his military duties in June next year. Following Jin, J-Hope is set to complete his service in October, and by next June, all members will have fulfilled their military obligations. BTS plans to resume group activities once all members are available again.
In the meantime, Jin has already reconnected with fans as part of the 2024 FESTA, celebrating BTS’ 11th debut anniversary. This event marked his first official activity post-discharge. Fans can also look forward to Jin’s first solo album, expected to be released later this year.
The reflections shared by RM offer a glimpse into the personal experiences and emotions of the BTS members as they navigate their individual journeys and prepare for their collective future. The unwavering support from their fans continues to be a source of strength and inspiration for the group.
