A bus from the company Ruta Atlántica overturned on Route 2 near Lezama while heading towards Mar del Plata, resulting in numerous injured passengers, some with serious injuries.
The accident occurred around 3 a.m., prompting the local fire department in Lezama to rush to the scene for a rescue operation. According to Carlos Firmapaz, the chief of the local fire brigade, at least 40 people were injured and were evacuated within 40 to 45 minutes of the accident being reported.
By 6 a.m., investigators arrived to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident. In response, authorities established a detour between kilometers 144 and 142 heading towards the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires (CABA) to ensure the flow of traffic in both directions.
