Camila Cabello admits her makeover is a ‘risky’ move

The 27-year-old pop star has dyed her hair blonde to signal a new chapter in her career and introduce a fresh sound with the release of her fourth studio album, ‘C,XOXO’. Camila acknowledges that this change in her appearance carries certain risks.

In an interview with Complex, she shared her thoughts on this transformation. "It’s ironic. I think the less authentic approach would be to give the audience what you know will work for them, or what they already expect from you. It’s the easiest path to take: ‘Oh, you liked ‘Havana’? I’ll give you five more songs like that.’ But it feels much riskier and comes from a place of artistic integrity to say, ‘Well, I’m going to step away from what everyone knows and loves about me to try new things, experiment, and evolve as an artist,’" she explained.

Camila emphasized that her new image isn’t an attempt to present herself as a more adult artist. Deep down, she feels she is still "learning to be a woman." The former member of Fifth Harmony believes her personal growth is reflected in her latest album.

"It feels like this exploration from childhood to femininity… even the line in ‘Dream Girls,’ where I mention all the girls learning to be women now receiving the album, really resonates with me. It feels like I’m indeed learning to become a woman,” she stated.

Although she still has a long journey ahead, Camila has gained significant insights since rising to fame. She has discovered various coping mechanisms to handle the pressures of success and cultivated a strong interest in Buddhism, thanks to the tools and skills she’s acquired over the years.
