Franko Bonilla, currently on tour with his live comedy show titled Hasta Aquí Fue, recently reminisced about his time on MasterChef Celebrity Colombia 2024 during one of his performances. He shared anecdotes filled with humor and memorable moments from the cooking competition.
One particular event that stood out for the Toliman comedian was a challenging team task that led to a stern reprimand from chef Jorge Rausch. Bonilla recalled a dish suggestion made by Cony Camelo that did not go over well. "The man was furious; he insulted us harshly, and the poor guy almost had a heart attack," he humorously noted.
In his storytelling, Bonilla chose not to blame Camelo entirely for the incident. He emphasized that the idea seemed reasonable at the time since no one else in the team, not even the captain, offered an alternative. "We thought it was a great idea because no one said anything. Everyone thought it was brilliant," Franko explained while on stage.
Bonilla further detailed how their enthusiasm led to chaos in the kitchen. They carelessly placed dishes on the floor as they rushed to prepare, only to be met with Rausch’s disappointment when he arrived to inspect their progress. “Even in the busiest restaurant, you wouldn’t see plates on the floor,” he commented, reflecting on the moment.
The seasoned chef, who has been with the show for a decade, displayed visible displeasure when he witnessed this careless act, stating that he had never encountered such a situation in any restaurant in Bogotá. Bonilla shared that Rausch was visibly upset, describing the scene as chaotic and almost humorous in hindsight.
The comedian admitted that while he found the moment funny at first, he felt embarrassed when he watched the episode air. "It was cringe-worthy. Looking back, I completely understood Rausch’s anger. We definitely pushed it too far," he confessed.
Bonilla emphasized the gravity of their mistake, recalling Rausch’s reaction with only a hint of exaggeration. "He was incensed! How could we have done that with food? It was a shocking moment," he stated.
Ultimately, Bonilla concluded his story by revealing that the team received the harshest scolding during that task. Rausch’s frustration seemed personal, prompting fellow contestant Claudia to step in to calm things down, as time constraints required the competition to keep moving. Unfortunately for Bonilla’s team, the red team, this incident led to their defeat.
Reflecting on the experience, he shared, "Watching that episode, I realized Rausch had every right to be furious. It was absurd for us to plate food on the floor. Each of us ended up wearing black aprons as punishment," he concluded, sharing a laugh with his audience.
