President Biden’s official White House X account experienced a notable gaffe on Tuesday afternoon in a now-deleted post. The @POTUS account was attempting to comment on a Louisiana federal judge’s preliminary injunction against the White House’s ban on new liquefied natural gas exports. This lawsuit had been filed by a coalition of 16 Republican states opposing Biden’s efforts to limit energy projects.
However, in the original post, Biden’s account mistakenly referred to the ruling as a “Supreme Court ruling” instead of a federal court ruling. The post read, “Yesterday’s Supreme Court ruling on our pause on Liquified Natural Gas exports is incredibly disappointing. I’ll continue doing everything I can to protect our environment and our communities, while ensuring America’s energy security.”
The post was quickly deleted and replaced with a corrected version stating, “Yesterday’s court ruling on our pause on Liquified Natural Gas exports is incredibly disappointing. I’ll continue doing everything I can to protect our environment and our communities, while ensuring America’s energy security.”
Fox News Digital reached out to the White House for a comment but has not yet received a response. Despite the deletion, some social media users captured and shared images of the original post. One such image included a Community Note clarifying, “This was not a Supreme Court decision. It was a federal judge in Louisiana.”
The error did not go unnoticed. Civil rights lawyer David Pivtorak remarked, “Good lord even the X account has dementia.” Conservative influencer Paul Szypula added, “Wow even his interns have cognitive issues.” The Libs of TikTok account reported, “Biden just deleted this post after confusing the Supreme Court with a Federal Court. This case literally had nothing to do with the Supreme Court.”
Talk show host Christopher Calvin Reid commented, “Biden’s staff is just as inattentive to detail as he is.” Libs of TikTok founder Chaya Raichik joked, “Which DEI hire is responsible for this?” Former FEMA administrator Michael D. Brown suggested, “Maybe Hunter Biden is now doing POTUS’ social media…” Keystone Corporation Director of Operations Courtney Holland noted, “The Biden team, in a now deleted post, confused a federal court decision with a SCOTUS decision. Not the best timing.”
The incident comes amid ongoing concerns about President Biden’s capability to run for a second term. After his first debate with former President Trump, many have questioned Biden’s mental acuity and whether he is fit to serve another four years.
