Disney+ ends account sharing and hints at ads for all subscription plans.

Disney+ has informed its streaming users that with the latest policy updates, account sharing with individuals outside of one’s household will no longer be permitted. Additionally, the company plans to introduce advertising across all subscription plans, including those that currently do not feature ads.

Much like Netflix, Disney+ now restricts account sharing to users within the same household, meaning only those accessing the service from devices linked to a primary residence will be allowed to share an account. This policy change is already reflected in the service’s terms for Spain and was previously hinted at by Disney CEO Bob Iger in April. The company aims to implement these changes gradually, with a full rollout expected by September.

If a user wishes to include someone outside their household on their account, they can purchase an “Extra Access” option, which incurs an additional fee on top of the main account subscription.

Disney has communicated this update to its users in Spain, highlighting the intent to integrate advertising into its subscription plans. Currently, the platform offers three subscription options: one that includes ads—Disney+ Standard with Ads for €5.99 per month—and two without ads—Disney+ Standard for €8.99 and Disney+ Premium for €11.99. The latter two plans may feature promotional content from both Disney and other brands.
