Durango Hostels Can Accommodate Over 200 People

Due to the recent rainstorms in the area, the municipal government, in collaboration with the DIF (System for the Integral Development of the Family), has opened shelters capable of accommodating approximately 260 individuals.

Currently, Efraín de los Ríos, the municipal director of the DIF, reported that there are 15 people residing in the city shelter, while an additional 6 individuals are being assisted at the Jornales shelter. These individuals are particularly vulnerable and are experiencing homelessness.

The government is providing food, clothing, hot water for personal hygiene, footwear, blankets, and everything necessary for a safe and dignified stay in these shelters. According to de los Ríos, these efforts reflect the commitment of José Antonio Ochoa’s administration, reinforcing the idea that "a Duranguense never leaves another Duranguense behind." This coordinated work aims to benefit the community as a whole.

Furthermore, the current administration has made significant improvements to the services offered at these shelters. This includes providing psychological support, medical services, and dignified facilities for all users.

To enhance assistance, the municipal government has made the phone number 618-128-6006 available through the DIF. Citizens can use this number to report individuals living in vulnerable conditions or to obtain information about the services provided at the shelters.
