Eminem Ends Taylor Swift’s Historic Album Reign

Eminem’s twelfth studio album, "The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de GrĂ¢ce)," has made a significant impact by debuting at number one on the Billboard 200 chart. This milestone comes after Taylor Swift’s album "The Tortured Poets Department" held the top spot for an impressive 12 consecutive weeks.

In its first week, Swift’s album achieved a staggering 891.34 million streams in the United States, marking it as the largest streaming week ever recorded for an album, according to Luminate. Swift’s album debuted at number one back in April and held that position for three months, making her the only female artist to achieve this feat. She surpassed the previous record held by Whitney Houston’s album "Whitney," which maintained its number one position for 11 weeks in 1987.

"The Tortured Poets Department" shares the record for consecutive weeks at number one with Morgan Wallen’s 2023 album, "One Thing at a Time." Wallen’s album also debuted at number one and remained there for 12 weeks in total. However, it made a comeback to the top spot later on, bringing its total weeks at number one to 19.

So far, the only album to beat these records is the legendary "Songs in the Key of Life" by Stevie Wonder, which spent 14 weeks atop the charts after debuting at number one in 1976, including an impressive 13 consecutive weeks.

With "The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de GrĂ¢ce)," Eminem has now secured his eleventh number one album. As a result of this development, Swift’s "The Tortured Poets Department" has fallen to number four on the chart. Meanwhile, K-pop band ENHYPHEN’s album "ROMANCE: UNTOLD" holds the second position, and Zach Bryan’s "The Great American Bar Scene" comes in at number three.
