Candace Owens has fired back at Eminem after the rapper dissed her on his latest album, “The Death of Slim Shady (Coup De Grâce).” The conservative commentator did not hold back in her response, calling Eminem irrelevant and accusing him of being a closeted homosexual.
Eminem, known for his controversial lyrics, took aim at Owens on the track “Lucifer,” where he rapped, “And Candice O, I ain’t mad at her/ I ain’t gon’ throw the fact b—- forgot she was Black back at her/ Laugh at her, like them crackers she’s backin’ after.” He also referred to her as a “MAGA dirtbag in a skirt” and used nicknames like “Grand Wizard,” “Klandace,” and “Grand Dragon.” The rapper even hinted at plans to “get in her pants.”
The 51-year-old rapper continued his critique of Owens on another track, “Bad One,” where he accused her of turning her back on her own race. Eminem’s lyrics have sparked a heated response from Owens, who took to her YouTube channel shortly after the album’s release to address the disses.
In an eight-minute video, Owens called Eminem a “lefty elitist” who is “cosplaying a race that you aren’t.” She also criticized his music, saying, “You’re so irrelevant, your music isn’t good anymore,” and dubbed him “granddad Shady.” Owens suggested that Eminem should retire, stating, “He is a lesson to a lot of people out there that you need to know when it’s time for you to retire.”
This isn’t the first time the two have clashed. In August 2023, Owens criticized Eminem’s age and speculated about his sexuality after he sent a cease-and-desist letter to then-Republican presidential hopeful Vivek Ramaswamy for using his music during a campaign. Owens said in a video, “Some people also say that when we get older we get grayer. We know that’s true. But for Eminem, the once hardcore rapper, it seems that he is getting older and gayer. Yes, Eminem might be gay.”
Eminem’s new album, “The Death of Slim Shady,” features 19 tracks, including previously released singles “Houdini” and “Tobey,” featuring Big Sean and BabyTron. The album also includes a sequel to 1999’s “Guilty Conscience” with Dr. Dre and features collaborations with Jelly Roll, J.I.D, Skylar Grey, Bizarre, Ez Mil, and more. This marks Eminem’s first album since 2020’s “Music to Be Murdered By,” as he seeks a 10th consecutive chart-topper on the Billboard 200.
Owens’ response to Eminem’s disses was not limited to her YouTube channel. She also shared her thoughts on social media, calling Eminem a “struggling internally gay man” and suggesting that he is trying to remain relevant by dissing her. “First thing I wanna say is Eminem is obviously a gay man. It’s very sad that Eminem cleaned out his closet but never came out of his closet,” she said. “I just would like to again remind people that he is in fact a struggling internally gay man and we should pray for him.”
Owens went on to say that she believes Eminem’s disses are a strategic move to go viral. “I’m doing this because I want to help him go viral because this is sad. This is very sad. I want you to feel sad for Eminem. Because this is just not the way for someone’s career to go down the drain, and I want us all to do our part to help make Eminem relevant again. At the very least, he can be relevant just by me speaking about him. And he understands that.”
In her video, Owens also accused Eminem of turning his back on his own race. “You’re the one that’s actually cosplaying a race that you aren’t. You’re desperate for Black Americans to pick up your tracks because you abandoned the audience of a lot of people who were listening to your music,” she said. “He’s calling white people crackers. He’s using a slur against his own people who at the same time, unironically, accusing me of doing what he’s doing. He’s like, ‘she turned her back on her own race,’ as he turns his back on his race and calls them crackers. I’ve never used slurs to describe Black Americans because I don’t have an issue with my race but you very much have an issue with yours.”
Owens claimed that Black Americans actually “like” her because they are “starting” to understand what she’s been advocating for. “They’re starting to hear what I have been saying… one of those people they’re not going to listen to is you, Eminem, because you’re so irrelevant,” she said. “He is a lesson to a lot of people out there that you need to know when it’s time to retire,” she concluded. “He still thinks he’s a 13-year-old boy that is rapping in his room… when in reality he’s 51 years old.”
Owens’ response has sparked a significant amount of attention, with many people weighing in on the feud between the conservative commentator and the legendary rapper. As the back-and-forth continues, it remains to be seen how Eminem will respond to Owens’ latest comments.
