The music world is mourning the loss of Enchanting, a talented Texas rapper who was once signed to Gucci Mane’s 1017 label. She passed away at the young age of 26.

Gucci Mane, who had signed Enchanting to his 1017 label in 2020, expressed his sorrow on social media. “So sad to have to say R.I.P to such a great young lady, a true star. We gone all miss you, Chant,” he wrote. The cause of her death has not been disclosed.

Enchanting, whose real name was Channing Nicole Larry, joined 1017 Records in 2020. She left the label after releasing her 2022 album “No Luv” and its deluxe version “Luv Scarred/No Luv” the following year.

Fellow artist Coi Leray, who collaborated with Enchanting on the track “Freaky Deaky,” also paid tribute. “My heart is broken, praying for Enchanting’s friends and family. R.I.P.,” Leray wrote on Instagram. She added, “Check on your strong friends. You just never know what someone is going through. Shit runs deep under the surface.”

In 2023, Enchanting contributed to the soundtrack for Issa Rae’s television series “RAP SH!T” on Max. She featured alongside established rap stars like Kaliii and Sexyy Red, as well as emerging talents such as Cleotrapa and NCognita. Enchanting collaborated with Maiya the Don on “He Can’t Reach,” Omeretta the Great on “Want No Beef,” and Atlanta rapper Kaliii on “Run It Up.”

Enchanting once described her music style as “Trap-n-Blues,” emphasizing its relatability. “Staying in the studio and constantly recording helps me find the style I can be good at,” she said. “Other people can relate to the things I say. I might help somebody through any situation; they can listen to me and find peace.”

Gucci Mane confirmed the tragic news on Tuesday, June 11. Reports indicated that Enchanting had been on life support before her passing.

Enchanting’s last album on 1017, “Luv Scarred/No Luv (Deluxe),” was released in November 2022. It featured several collaborations with Gucci Mane, including tracks like “Big Chant,” “Large Amounts,” “Issa Photoshoot,” and “No Love,” which also featured the late Big Scarr and Key Glock.

Another tribute came from Lil CJ Casino, who shared a heartfelt post on Instagram. “They Pulled The Plug Bro This Shit So F—ed Up I Just Knew You was Finna Pull Threw @luvenchanting. You gone Forever Be Stop6 Princess & Kasino First Lady,” he wrote. “They Don’t Know All Hours You Spent At The Kasino Studio Sleeping There Making Music Putting This Shit Together And You Went Way Further Than Us I Always Told You How Proud I Was Of You.”

Gucci Mane’s wife, Keyshia Ka’Oir, also defended her husband against criticism following Enchanting’s death. “Leave my husband alone,” she wrote. “He signs these artists to help them & give them a better life! I wish it wasn’t like this! Chant, we love you baby girl! RIH.”

Enchanting’s passing has left a void in the music community. Her unique style and relatable lyrics resonated with many, and her contributions to the rap scene will not be forgotten.
