Everything We Know About Katy Perry’s Sixth Album

Katy Perry is gearing up for a new musical chapter, and fans are buzzing with excitement. On June 17, the pop sensation took to Instagram to announce her upcoming single, “Woman’s World,” set to release on July 11, with the music video following on July 12. “Get ready to pop off,” she teased in the caption. The cover art, captured by photographer Jack Bridgland, features Perry in a white bikini with futuristic, robot-like legs, standing atop what appears to be a galaxy.

To celebrate the announcement, Perry also shared a TikTok video that day, offering a behind-the-scenes look at her cover shoot. In the clip, she lip-syncs to a 15-second snippet of her new single, singing, “Sexy, confident / So intelligent / She is heaven-sent / So soft, so strong.”

According to Variety, “Woman’s World” is the first glimpse into Perry’s sixth studio album, which remains untitled and without a release date. While we eagerly await more details, here’s everything we know about her new music so far.

Katy Perry has been dropping subtle hints about her new album for months. On April 13, she attended the 2024 Breakthrough Prize Ceremony in a chic black off-the-shoulder gown, carrying a clear glass purse. Inside the purse was a small scroll that read “KP6: TOP SECRET,” sparking speculation about new music.

In an interview with Access Hollywood, Perry described KP6 as her “happiest” record yet. “I just have yet to make a record from a place of feeling really happy and whole and full of love,” she said. “Sometimes artists are like, ‘Oh, that’s boring, you want to make music from kind of like a tougher place,’ but actually it’s very bright and joyful, like pure joy and fun and playful and celebratory and a party.”

On May 8, just two days after the 2024 Met Gala, Perry hinted that her new project might drop in the fall. She tweeted, “wow ppl are STILL texting me that they can’t believe they missed me at The Met or OMG you killed it etc etc… welp, hold on to your common sense hat cause we in for a ride this fall…”

Perry’s teasing dates back to 2023. During one of her Las Vegas residency shows in August, she told the audience, “If you couldn’t love me in my Witness (2017) and Smile (2020) eras, then you can’t love me in my KP6 era.”

Before “Woman’s World,” Perry’s last musical release was in 2020. In recent years, she has focused on her role as a judge on American Idol, a position she held for seven seasons. However, after stepping down from the show at the end of its 22nd season in May 2024, Perry seems ready to return to full pop stardom.

The anticipation for Perry’s sixth album is palpable. Fans are eager to see how her new music will reflect her current state of happiness and love. With “Woman’s World” set to drop soon, the countdown to KP6 has officially begun.
