Former Deputy Attorney General Under Felipe Calderón Passes Away

On July 22, the former President Felipe Calderón shared the sad news of the passing of Jorge Lara, a lawyer and internationalist who served as Deputy Attorney General during his administration.

Calderón expressed his sorrow on social media. "With deep sadness, I learned of the death of the great Jorge Lara, an honest, loyal, and brave friend and former collaborator, who was Deputy Attorney General during my government. His departure hurts more when considering how much people like him are needed. I send a strong hug to his wife and children. Rest in peace, Jorge."

Victor Oléa, president of the Barra Mexicana, Colegio de Abogados, also conveyed his condolences, describing Lara as an "extraordinary person" and a great lawyer who was always committed to the rule of law. "Rest in peace," he added.

Additionally, members of the PAN party expressed their deep sorrow over the loss of their colleague and friend. "We extend our sincerest condolences, prayers, and hope for quick healing for his entire family," they stated.
