Ice Spice Hints at Possible Taylor Swift Feature on Her Debut Album ‘Y2K’

Ice Spice has left fans buzzing with excitement over a potential collaboration with Taylor Swift on her upcoming debut album, Y2K. The rap sensation, known for hits like “Boy’s a Liar,” recently hinted at a possible team-up with the pop superstar, referencing their remix of Swift’s track “Karma” last May. When pressed for details about Swift’s involvement in her new record — set for release on July 26 — Spice remained tight-lipped but teased that there are indeed “a couple” of collaborations in the works.

“There’s a couple [of collaborations] — that is all I can say. More than one,” she cryptically commented to Entertainment Tonight at the BET Awards held at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles on June 30. “I think she did me the favor, but I don’t know, let’s see, let’s see,” Ice Spice coyly replied in response to whether Swift had returned the favor.

The star also shared the valuable advice Swift imparted to her, recalling their time together in the studio. “When I was in the studio with Taylor, like, I’ll never forget. She told me, ‘No matter what, just keep making music and everything’s going to be fine,’” Spice recounted to Billboard. “I was, like: ‘You [mess] with my project?’ Like, what?” she joked in an interview with The Guardian. “She’s so sweet — I was so obsessed with how humble she was and willing to work. She gives me so much advice; we talk all the time and she’s so funny … But I can’t say what she be telling me,” Spice, known for her candid demeanor, previously kept quiet about the specific guidance Swift has given her.

Spice’s playful evasion of direct answers continues to fuel speculation among fans eagerly awaiting her album’s release. The stars previously teamed up on Swift’s “Karma” remix. Ice Spice and Taylor Swift performed onstage during “Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour” at MetLife Stadium on May 27, 2023, in East Rutherford, New Jersey.

Is a second Taylor Swift and Ice Spice collaboration fact or cap? We’ll just have to wait and see. While walking the red carpet at the 2024 BET Awards on Sunday, the 24-year-old rapper played coy while fielding a question about her new album Y2K! — which drops later this month — possibly featuring a duet with the “Anti-Hero” singer.

“I think she did me the favor,” Ice began when Entertainment Tonight asked whether Swift would be “returning the favor” following the Bronx native’s contribution to the 14-time Grammy winner’s “Karma” remix last year. “I don’t know,” she continued with a smile. “Let’s see, let’s see, let’s see.”

Though she ultimately kept tight-lipped about Swift’s potential involvement, the “Munch” musician did reveal that there’s more than one all-star collaboration on her debut LP. “There’s a couple,” she confirmed.

The interview comes almost exactly a year after “Karma” ascended to No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100, thanks to the “Munch” musician’s feature on the Midnights (Til Dawn Edition) version of the track. The pair both starred in a music video for the remix and performed it a few times together on Swift’s Eras Tour.

“I am blown away by her,” the pop star said of Ice in a Spotify audio snippet around the time of the song’s release. “In my opinion, she’s the one to watch. Watching her work ethic and how thoughtfully she approaches her career, she’s like my new favorite artist and I’m so honored that she’s on the song.”

Later on Sunday night, Ice took the BET stage to dance, twerk, and set fire to her gas station set while performing two tracks: “Phat Butt” and “Think U the Sh-t (Fart).” She didn’t take home any hardware, although she was nominated for best collaboration and video of the year — both for her Barbie soundtrack contribution “Barbie World” with Nicki Minaj and Aqua — as well as best female hip-hop artist.

Ice is now gearing up to embark on a world tour that kicks off July 4. As for whether either of her A-list former duet partners — Swift or Minaj — might join her on stage at some point, the “Deli” artist isn’t ruling anything out. “They’re busy ladies right on sold-out tours,” she added on the red carpet. “They’re always welcomed.”

Y2K! will be released via 10K Projects and Capitol Records on July 26. All eyes are on Taylor Swift and Ice Spice as the pair might collaborate again. The rapper hinted at another song as her latest album approaches. Ice Spice and Taylor Swift have become fast friends. Ice Spice and Taylor Swift might be collaborating yet again. The rapper is making her debut on July 26 with her first-ever album, Y2K. She attended the BET Awards on June 30 and told ET on the red carpet: “There’s a couple [of collaborations] – that is all I can say. More than one. I think [Taylor] did me the favor, but I don’t know, let’s see, let’s see.”

Despite having only singles and features previously, Ice Spice already made a major splash in the music industry, attracting attention from established artists like Taylor. The pair forged a steadfast friendship which led to Ice Spice featuring on a remix of Taylor’s song Karma, an instant hit from her album, Midnights.

She also revealed that Taylor has been a source of support as she continues her hard-hitting breakthrough into the industry. Ice Spice said Taylor gave her advice. She told Billboard: “When I was in the studio with Taylor, like, I’ll never forget. She told me, ‘No matter what, just keep making music and everything’s going to be fine.'” Plus, Ice Spice previously told The Guardian newspaper: “I was like: ‘You [mess] with my project?’ Like, what? She’s so sweet – I was so obsessed with how humble she was and willing to work. She gives me so much advice – we talk all the time and she’s so funny… But I can’t say what she be telling me.”

The pair’s friendship extends beyond the recording studio, too. Taylor brought Ice Spice to a Kansas City Chiefs game, inviting her into the star’s girl squad which includes Sabrina Carpenter and Blake Lively. Plus, the Blank Space singer was seen gabbing with Ice Spice at the 2023 VMAs as they seemed in good spirits as they hung out in front of the cameras.
