Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Seizes Ship Loaded with “Smuggled Fuel” in Gulf

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard announced today the seizure of a Togolese-flagged vessel carrying 1.5 million liters of “smuggled fuel.” The ship was apprehended while sailing in the Persian Gulf near the Iranian province of Bushehr. The crew consists of twelve foreign nationals, though the authorities have not disclosed their nationalities.

According to Sardar Haider Henryian Megred, the commander of the Second Naval Region of the Revolutionary Guard, the vessel was seized after a judicial order was received. He reported to the Iranian news agency Tasnim that the ship was caught transporting 1.5 million liters of smuggled diesel fuel. Following the legal directive, the vessel has been transferred to the facilities of the Bushehr Oil Products Company.

This incident highlights ongoing issues related to fuel smuggling in the region, as authorities continue to take steps to address illegal activities in their waters.
