IU accuses PP and Junts of choosing “insolidarity and racism” by rejecting immigration reform

The federal coordinator of IU, Antonio MaĆllo, has voiced strong criticism against the right-wing parties PP, Vox, and Junts. He accused them of demonstrating “insolence and racism” after they rejected the consideration of proposed reforms to the Immigration Law in Congress.

MaĆllo emphasized that, despite any euphemisms the parties may use, they are not aligned with the values of the country. He stated that rejecting this reform is fundamentally an act of inhumanity, sharing his thoughts through a post on the social media platform X.

On Tuesday, the PP successfully blocked the reform of the Immigration Law in the Congress of Deputies. They were supported in this stance by Vox and Junts. The voting resulted in a total of 349 votes, with 171 in favor, 177 against from the PP, Junts, and Vox, and one abstention from UPN.

This incident highlights ongoing tensions surrounding immigration policies and the differing views of political parties in Spain. The implications of such a rejection are significant, affecting many individuals seeking a better life and fair treatment under the law. The push for reform suggests a desire for more humane and inclusive immigration practices, contrasting sharply with the actions of the opposing parties.
