Jason Priestley Reaches Out to His ‘Beverly Hills 90210’ Co-Stars After Shannen Doherty’s Passing

Jason Priestley reached out to his ‘Beverly Hills 90210’ co-stars following the passing of Shannen Doherty. The actress passed away on July 13 at the age of 53 after a long battle with cancer, leaving her former friends deeply shocked. This sorrow was compounded by the earlier loss of another series star, Luke Perry, who died in 2019.

In the first episode of her podcast since Shannen’s death, former ‘Beverly Hills 90210’ actress Jennie Garth, now 52, shared details about a conversation she had with her former castmates after hearing the news. She explained, “Jason, of course, was the first to reach out to all of us, saying, ‘I love you guys. This is crazy. No more losses.'”

Jennie expressed her heartbreak over losing Shannen, especially after the loss of Luke, who died at 52 from a stroke five years ago. “I think one of the hardest parts for me is that now two people from our original cast are gone,” she reflected.

The deaths have led Jennie to picture a “group photo” of the ‘Beverly Hills 90210’ cast, which also included Brian Austin Green, Ian Ziering, Gabrielle Carteris, and Tori Spelling. She noted, “I can imagine the representation of those people in the group photo fading away, and then disappearing altogether.”

Upon learning of Shannen’s death, Jennie described feeling as if someone had “punched her in the stomach.” The news was disclosed by Shannen’s publicist, Leslie Sloane, through a press statement that noted, “The devoted daughter, sister, aunt, and friend was surrounded by her loved ones, along with her dog, Bowie. The family requests privacy during this time to grieve peacefully.”

In homage to Shannen, Jennie posted a heartfelt message on Instagram, stating, “I’m still processing the tremendous pain from the loss of my long-time friend, a woman I’ve often described as one of the strongest people I’ve ever known. Our connection was real and honest. We often faced off, but none of that reflected the truth of our real relationship, which was based on mutual respect and admiration. She was brave, passionate, determined, and incredibly loving and generous. I will miss her and will always carry her in my heart and memories. My heart breaks for her family and for Bowie.”
