Jodie Turner-Smith Joins Showtime Spy Drama The Agency

Jodie Turner-Smith has been announced as the latest addition to the cast of the upcoming espionage series “The Agency” on Paramount+ with Showtime. She will star alongside Michael Fassbender, Jeffrey Wright, and Richard Gere in this adaptation of the French series “Le Bureau des Legendes.”

Nina L. Diaz, president of content and chief creative officer for Showtime/MTV Entertainment Studios & Paramount Media Networks, praised Turner-Smith, saying, “Jodie Turner-Smith is a force who captivates audiences with her raw, emotional power. We are thrilled she is joining our extraordinary cast alongside Michael Fassbender, Jeffrey Wright, and Richard Gere.”

The series centers around Martian (played by Michael Fassbender), a covert CIA agent who is ordered to leave his undercover life and return to London Station. Upon his return, he reconnects with a past love, reigniting romance amidst the complexities of espionage and international intrigue. His career, true identity, and mission become entangled with matters of the heart, throwing them both into a perilous game of espionage.

Turner-Smith will play Sami Zahir, a professor of social anthropology who has a history with Martian. Her character adds another layer of complexity to the narrative, intertwining personal and professional stakes in a high-stakes environment.

Turner-Smith was most recently seen in the Disney+ “Star Wars” series “The Acolyte.” Her other TV credits include the final season of “Sex Education,” “Anne Boleyn,” “The Last Ship,” and “Nightflyers.” She will also star in the upcoming Apple TV+ series “Bad Monkey.” In film, she is known for roles in features such as “Queen & Slim” as well as “Murder Mystery 2,” “After Yang,” and “White Noise.” She will be featured in “Tron: Ares,” which is slated for release in 2025.

“The Agency” is currently in production in London. Jez and John-Henry Butterworth are writers and executive producers. Joe Wright is executive producer and director for the first two episodes.
