Joe Alwyn made a notable appearance at the Prada fashion show in Milan, Italy, following his recent comments about his breakup with Taylor Swift.
The English actor, 33, was seen in high spirits on Sunday as he attended the event showcasing Prada’s menswear Spring and Summer 2025 collection. Alwyn sported a stylish purple turtleneck sweater, paired with a black jacket, jeans, and black dress shoes, completing his look with black sunglasses and a silver ring.
His attendance at the fashion show came just a day after he opened up about his much-publicized split from Swift, 34. In an interview with the Times, Alwyn expressed the challenges of ending a long-term relationship, describing it as a “hard thing to navigate.”
“I would hope that anyone and everyone can empathize and understand the difficulties that come with the end of a long, loving, fully committed relationship of over six and a half years,” he said.
Alwyn also addressed the intense public scrutiny that followed their breakup, calling it “unusual and abnormal.” He noted the difficulty of having a private matter thrust into the public eye, where it is often dissected and speculated upon.
“It’s suddenly in the public domain and the outside world is able to weigh in,” he explained. “So you have something very real suddenly thrown into a very unreal space: tabloids, social media, press, where it is then dissected, speculated on, pulled out of shape beyond recognition.”
Despite the media frenzy, Alwyn mentioned that he has come to terms with the situation. “I have made my peace with that,” he said.
Throughout their relationship, which lasted from 2016 to 2023, Swift and Alwyn maintained a low profile. The pop star rarely shared details about their romance, except for a few public acknowledgments, such as when she thanked Alwyn during her 2021 Grammy acceptance speech for Album of the Year.
“Joe, who is the first person that I play every single song that I write, and I had the best time writing songs with you in quarantine,” Swift said during her speech for her “Folklore” album.
Alwyn reiterated in his Times interview that he and Swift had a mutual agreement to keep their relationship private, a promise he intends to uphold. “It was never something to commodify and I see no reason to change that now,” he stated.
Meanwhile, Swift has moved on and is now in a very public relationship with NFL star Travis Kelce. The couple has been seen together at various events, from NFL games to glamorous date nights.
Swift’s decision to be more open about her relationship with Kelce, 34, contrasts with her previous approach. In her Time Person of the Year profile last year, she explained her choice to publicly display her relationship.
“When you say a relationship is public, that means I’m going to see him do what he loves, we’re showing up for each other, other people are there and we don’t care,” she said. “The opposite of that is you have to go to an extreme amount of effort to make sure no one knows that you’re seeing someone. And we’re just proud of each other.”
