JoJo Siwa Shares Grandma’s Advice on Drinking Liquor On Stage in Podcast

JoJo Siwa recently shared a heartwarming and humorous story about her onstage drinking ritual, which has become a fan favorite during her performances. The 21-year-old performer opened up about this unique tradition on the latest episode of her podcast, “JoJo Siwa Now,” revealing that it all started with a piece of advice from her grandmother.

During the July 8 episode, JoJo explained that the idea of drinking on stage came to her during rehearsals for a new routine for her song “Yesterday’s Tomorrow’s Today.” Fresh off her 21st birthday, JoJo felt like taking a shot before the performance. To her surprise, her grandmother encouraged her to go for it. “I was like, ‘I wanna f—ing take a shot before this.’ And my grandma was like, ‘Alright, JoJo. You should do it.’ And I was like, alright. Let’s do it!” JoJo recounted.

This spontaneous decision quickly turned into a beloved part of her Pride performances. JoJo shared that the crowd goes “absolutely ballistic” when she takes a shot on stage, making it a highlight of her shows. The ritual gained significant attention during her performance at Los Angeles Pride at the Park in June, where she brought out a jug of Tito’s Vodka. “People were like, ‘Woah. What are you doing? Is it real? Is it fake?’” JoJo recalled. “And I was like, ‘Bitch, it is what it f—ing is. It’s a bottle of Tito’s.’”

JoJo’s Pride performances have been a massive success, with record-breaking attendance in cities like Chicago. Reflecting on her Chicago Pride performance, JoJo expressed her amazement and gratitude in an Instagram post. “Chicago Pride WHAT THE F—!!!🌈” she wrote. “What a time to be alive. Yesterday was unreal. I found out I set the record for most people in attendance at Chicago Pride at 2 a f—ing clock in the afternoon… THAT IS NUTTY.”

She continued to thank her fans for their support, noting the creative and enthusiastic ways they showed up for her performances. “You all really did that, showed up and had the best time with me,” JoJo said. “I saw you all with your posters, ur F—IN KARMA MAKEUP YOU ICONS, some construction vests, some JOJO BOWS, f—ing epic. Best f—ing time I love you THANK YOU.”

JoJo’s recent performances are leading up to the release of her debut EP, “Guilty Pleasure,” and the title track single, both set to drop on July 12. She announced her first full-length project on Instagram, sharing the tracklist and a snippet of an upcoming music video. “The count down is ON. 🖤✝️🛠️🦺🐻❣️,” she wrote in the caption.

JoJo’s story about her grandmother’s advice and her onstage drinking ritual adds a personal and relatable touch to her public persona. It shows a different side of the performer, one that is spontaneous, fun-loving, and deeply connected to her family. Her grandmother’s encouragement has not only become a memorable part of her performances but also a testament to the supportive and loving relationship they share.

As JoJo continues to break records and captivate audiences with her performances, it’s clear that her unique traditions and personal stories resonate with her fans. Her ability to connect with her audience, both on and off stage, is a significant part of her success. With her debut EP on the horizon, fans can look forward to more music and more memorable moments from JoJo Siwa.
