Jordan Peele Reveals Release Date for New Horror Movie

Jordan Peele has officially announced the release date for his latest horror film, titled “Him.” The movie, produced by Peele’s Monkeypaw Productions, is set to hit theaters on September 19, 2025. Universal Pictures and Monkeypaw Productions shared the exciting news on Thursday.

Directed by Justin Tipping, “Him” stars Marlon Wayans as a legendary quarterback who takes a young athlete, played by Tyriq Withers, under his wing. The young athlete travels to the aging quarterback’s secluded compound for training. The film, which was initially known by its working title “GOAT,” promises to deliver a gripping psychological horror experience.

The cast of “Him” also includes Julia Fox, Tim Heidecker, comedian Jim Jefferies, and hip-hop artists Guapdad 4000 and Grammy nominee Tierra Whack, both making their feature film debuts. The screenplay, written by Zack Akers and Skip Bronkie, creators of the sci-fi series “Limetown,” has been highly acclaimed and was featured on the Black List.

Jordan Peele, known for his groundbreaking horror films “Get Out,” “Us,” “Candyman,” and “Nope,” will produce “Him” alongside Ian Cooper, Win Rosenfeld, and Jamal Watson for Monkeypaw Productions. David Kern and Monkeypaw’s Kate Oh will serve as executive producers.

Universal Pictures describes “Him” as a “blood-chilling journey into the inner sanctum of fame, power, and the pursuit of excellence at any cost.” The film centers on a promising young football player who is invited to train at the isolated compound of a dynasty team’s aging quarterback.

Jordan Peele first made waves in the film industry with his directorial debut “Get Out,” a psychological horror film that became a box office sensation. Since then, he has continued to captivate audiences with his unique storytelling and thought-provoking themes. “Him” is expected to follow in the footsteps of Peele’s previous successes, offering a chilling exploration of fame and power.

In addition to “Him,” Peele has another untitled project in the works at Universal, set to be released on December 25, 2024. This upcoming film will premiere one week after the highly anticipated releases of “Avatar 3” and “Sonic the Hedgehog 3.” Universal’s adaptation of the “Wicked” musical, originally slated for the same weekend, has been moved up to Thanksgiving.

As with his previous films, Peele has kept details about his fourth directorial project under wraps. The title, genre, and cast remain a mystery, adding to the anticipation surrounding the film. Peele’s ability to maintain secrecy has become a hallmark of his filmmaking process, keeping audiences intrigued and eager for more.

Peele’s debut feature, “Get Out,” was a critical and commercial success, grossing $255 million worldwide and earning four Oscar nominations. He followed it up with the 2019 thriller “Us,” which also generated $255 million globally. Peele’s most recent film, “Nope,” released in 2022, reunited him with “Get Out” star Daniel Kaluuya and grossed over $170 million worldwide.

As a producer, Peele has supported notable projects such as Spike Lee’s Oscar-nominated “BlacKkKlansman” and Nia DaCosta’s “Candyman” remake. His influence in the horror genre continues to grow, solidifying his reputation as a visionary filmmaker.

Fans of Jordan Peele will have to wait a little longer for his next directorial effort, but the announcement of “Him” provides a thrilling glimpse into what lies ahead. With its intriguing premise and talented cast, “Him” is poised to be another standout addition to Peele’s impressive filmography.

In addition to his film projects, Peele has recently been announced as a collaborator on the upcoming video game project “OD” from Hideo Kojima. The project, featuring actors like Sophia Lillis and Hunter Schafer, aims to blur the lines between gaming and cinema, offering a unique and immersive experience.

Jordan Peele’s impact on the horror genre is undeniable, and his ability to craft thought-provoking and socially relevant stories has earned him a dedicated following. As fans eagerly await the release of “Him” and his untitled fourth film, Peele’s influence in the world of cinema continues to grow.
