Junts has announced that it will propose Eduard Pujol, Teresa Pallarès, and Francesc Ten as the group’s candidates for the regional senators in the Parliament. This decision was made during a meeting of the party’s Permanent Commission.
As part of this change, Pujol will serve as the spokesperson for Junts in the Senate. Pallarès, who is currently in charge of the party’s Financial Department, and Ten, the president of the Language, Culture, and Communication sectorial of Junts, will also have significant roles. The announcement included a note of appreciation for Josep Lluís Cleries for his service as the Senate spokesperson, recognizing his contributions positively over the years.
With Pujol moving to the Senate, his seat in the Congress will be filled by Josep Pagès, who previously served as a deputy in the lower chamber during the last legislative term. Pujol has been a member of Congress since August 2023 and had previously held a seat in the Parliament from late 2017 until October 2020.
The deadline for groups to submit their candidacies for the eight regional senators designated by the Parliament will close on Monday. Earlier this week, both the Table of the Parliament and the Board of Spokespersons agreed to use the D’Hondt method for distributing these eight senator positions. This arrangement results in three positions going to the PSC, three to Junts, one to ERC, and one to the PP, while Vox will not have any representation.
