Pop icon Justin Timberlake found himself in legal hot water just days after celebrating Father’s Day. The 43-year-old singer was arrested on charges of driving while intoxicated in Sag Harbor, New York, on June 18. This incident occurred merely 48 hours after Timberlake and his wife, Jessica Biel, shared heartfelt tributes to each other and their children on social media.
Timberlake was pulled over by Sag Harbor police around 12:37 a.m. on June 18. According to the police report, he was driving a 2025 BMW and failed to stop at a stop sign, subsequently swerving out of his lane. Officers noted that Timberlake’s eyes were bloodshot and glassy, and there was a strong odor of alcohol on his breath. Despite his claims of having “one martini” and following friends home, Timberlake performed poorly on field sobriety tests.
The arresting officer described Timberlake as unsteady on his feet, with slowed speech and an inability to divide his attention. Timberlake refused a chemical sobriety test three times, stating, “No, I’m not doing a chemical test.” He was subsequently arrested and held overnight for arraignment.
Timberlake’s arrest came just after he and Biel celebrated Father’s Day with touching social media posts. Timberlake shared photos of their sons, Silas, 9, and Phineas, 3, calling them his “2 greatest gifts.” He expressed his love and commitment to his children, promising to be there for them through life’s ups and downs. Biel also posted a heartfelt message, calling Timberlake “THE ROCK” of their family.
Despite the arrest, Timberlake was released without bail and is scheduled to appear in court on July 26. His attorney, Ed Burke, confirmed that Timberlake was cited for running a stop sign and failing to stay in his lane. The court appearance is expected to be virtual.
Timberlake is currently on tour promoting his latest album, “Everything I Thought It Was.” He is set to perform in Chicago at the United Center on June 21. The arrest has not affected his tour schedule, and Timberlake is expected to continue with his planned performances.
The incident has garnered significant media attention, especially given Timberlake’s high-profile status and recent public tributes to his family. Timberlake and Biel have been married since 2012 and have often shared glimpses of their family life on social media. The couple’s public displays of affection and support for each other have made them a beloved celebrity duo.
This arrest adds to a series of challenges Timberlake has faced in recent years. In late 2019, he issued a public apology to Biel after being photographed getting cozy with co-star Alisha Wainwright. Timberlake called the incident a “strong lapse in judgment.” Despite this, the couple celebrated their 10th anniversary with a vow renewal in October 2022.
Timberlake’s arrest also comes in the wake of ex-girlfriend Britney Spears’ memoir release last year. In “The Woman in Me,” Spears detailed their relationship, including an abortion she underwent and allegations of Timberlake’s infidelity. The memoir’s release led to Timberlake canceling several gigs earlier this year.
As Timberlake navigates this latest legal issue, his fans and the public will be watching closely. The singer’s next court date on July 26 will likely provide more clarity on the legal consequences he may face. For now, Timberlake continues to focus on his tour and family, hoping to move past this incident and maintain his career and personal life.
