Justin Timberlake is continuing to allude to his recent DWI arrest on his Forget Tomorrow World Tour.
During his Saturday night concert at Boston’s TD Garden, Timberlake addressed the crowd and asked, “So uh, is there anyone here tonight that is driving?”
As the audience could be heard laughing in videos of the moment posted to social media, Timberlake quickly followed up by insisting, “I’m just kidding.”
He then got serious.
“Is there anyone here tonight, that it’s your first time here to the show? Is there anybody here that you’ve been to one, two, three, maybe four of our shows?,” he asked the crowd, according to People.
“For all of you that it’s your first time tonight — on a serious note — I hope that you feel the fellowship and the love,” he said, according to People, before speaking to his longtime fans. “For those of you that have been with me through all the weird haircuts … don’t act like y’all didn’t have bad haircuts! I took one for the team. Maybe like three or four for the team, but who’s counting. But it’s been almost three decades together, you guys.”
Timberlake was arrested for allegedly driving while intoxicated in Sag Harbor, New York on June 18. According to a police statement, the superstar musician was “observed operating a 2025 BMW southbound on Madison Street, failing to stop at a duly posted stop sign and failing to maintain his lane of travel.”
A Sag Harbor police officer pulled Timberlake over and “determined that Mr. Timberlake was operating his vehicle in an intoxicated condition.” He was arraigned and released ahead of his next court date set for July 26.
The pop star previously alluded to his legal troubles at his first concert since the arrest, at Chicago’s United Center on June 21.
“We’ve been together through ups and downs, lefts and rights. It’s been a tough week, but you’re here and I’m here, and nothing can change this moment right now,” Timberlake said then, according to videos shared on X (formerly Twitter).
“I know sometimes I’m hard to love but you keep on loving me and I love you right back,” he added at the Chicago show. “Thank you so much!”
Justin Timberlake seems to be making light of his recent arrest. The “Cry Me a River” singer, 43, appeared to joke about his DWI arrest while performing at the TD Garden in Boston on Saturday, videos shared on social media showed. “Is there anyone here tonight that is driving − no, I’m just kidding,” Timberlake said while addressing the crowd, stopping himself before finishing the sentence.
As the crowd cheered and laughed at Timberlake’s apparent quip about his DWI, he finished the sentence in a different way, asking, “Is there anyone here tonight that it’s your first time here to the show?” USA TODAY has reached out to representatives for Timberlake.
Timberlake seemed to be joking about the fact that he was arrested for allegedly driving while intoxicated in the Hamptons earlier this month. According to the Sag Harbor Village Police Department, the singer was pulled over after he failed to stop at a stop sign and “maintain his lane of travel.” When police investigated, “it was determined that Mr. Timberlake was operating his vehicle in an intoxicated position.”
The arrest came amid Timberlake’s Forget Tomorrow tour.
After his joke, Timberlake spoke on a more serious note about his relationship with his fans.
“It has almost been three decades, you all,” he said. “From the bottom of my heart, you have been such a big and beautiful and special part of my life and I only hope that I have been even half the same for you. For all of you in this room tonight, I have so much gratitude for all of you. I love you all so much. And, here’s to 30 more years. Let’s keep it going.”
Timberlake previously addressed his DWI arrest during a concert in Chicago on June 21, though without speaking to the specifics of what happened.
“We’ve been together through ups and downs, lefts and rights,” he said onstage at the United Center. “It’s been a tough week, but you’re here and I’m here, and nothing can change this moment right now.”
He added, “I know sometimes I’m hard to love, but you keep on loving me and I love you right back.”
Timberlake has not spoken further about his arrest. But in a statement provided to USA TODAY earlier this month, his attorney, Edward Burke Jr., said he would be “vigorously defending” Timberlake against the allegations.
The lawyer added, “I will have a lot to say at the appropriate time but am currently awaiting full discovery from the district attorney’s office.”
Timberlake’s joke drew mixed reactions on social media. While one fan commented on TikTok that they were “cracking up,” others were critical.
“He should be ashamed of himself drunk driving isn’t a joke,” one fan wrote, while another comment read, “Don’t see the humor in it. Especially when you’ve lost people to drunk drivers.”
Justin Timberlake isn’t crying any rivers.
The 43-year-old Grammy winner appeared to mock his recent legal troubles during his concert in Boston on Saturday, according to a fan video shared on X.
Timberlake, 43, was talking to the crowd inside the TD Garden during the latest stop on his Forget Tomorrow World Tour when he alluded to his June 18 DWI arrest with a joke.
While on stage in Boston, he said, “So uh, is there anyone here tonight that is driving and … no I’m just kidding.”
After the audience erupted in laughter, the “SexyBack” singer continued, “Is there anyone here tonight, that it’s your first time here to the show? Is there anybody here that you’ve been to 1, 2, 3, maybe 4 of our shows?”
“For all of you that it’s your first time tonight — on a serious note — I hope that you feel the fellowship and the love.”
According to an arrest report obtained by Page Six, an officer saw the “Cry Me A River” singer “fail to keep on the right side of the roadway” and drive through a stop sign.
Timberlake’s onstage comments come nearly two weeks after he was pulled over in Sag Harbor, New York, and charged with one count of DWI and two citations for allegedly running a stop sign and failure to stay in lane.
According to an arrest report obtained by Page Six, an officer saw the “Cry Me A River” singer “fail to keep on the right side of the roadway” and drive through a stop sign.
After a traffic stop, the officer claimed Timberlake “performed poorly on all standardized field sobriety tests.” Page Six was also told he repeatedly refused to take a breathalyzer test.
Since his arrest, Timberlake has been getting support from his wife, Jessica Biel.
His next court date is July 26.
The report further states the singer told authorities, “I had one martini and I followed my friends home.”
Timberlake’s next court date is July 26, but he is not required to attend.
Following the arrest, Timberlake’s attorney, Edward Burke Jr., said, “Mr. Burke looks forward to vigorously defending Mr. Timberlake against these allegations. He will have a lot to say at the appropriate time. He is currently awaiting full discovery from the DA’s office.”
Since getting pulled over and arrested, Timberlake has kept himself busy with his tour. His wife, Jessica Biel, 42, was spotted supporting him in the crowd during his concert at Madison Square Garden in New York City on June 25.
Justin Timberlake jokingly referenced his arrest for allegedly driving while intoxicated at his tour stop in Boston.
On Saturday (June 29), the 43-year-old singer and actor cracked a one-liner about the incident during his concert at Boston’s TD Garden amid his Forget Tomorrow world tour.
“So, uh, is there anyone here tonight that is driving?” Timberlake asked the cheering crowd in a fan-captured clip posted on TikTok. “No, I’m just kidding,” he quickly added.
The comment drew a mix of gasps and laughter from the crowd. The “SexyBack” followed the wisecrack by asking the audience who’s attending for the first time and who’s seen him before, according to TMZ.
Timberlake was arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated in Sag Harbor, N.Y. on June 17. He was arraigned on one count of “driving while intoxicated” the following day.
“It was ascertained that the defendant was operating said vehicle in an intoxicated condition in that his eyes were bloodshot and glassy, a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage was emanating from his breath, he was unable to divide attention, he had slowed speech, he was unsteady afoot, and he performed poorly on all standardized field sobriety tests,” according to the police report filed by officer Michael Arkinson.
“I had one martini and I followed my friends home,” Arkinson also quoted the 10-time Grammy winner as saying in his report.
Last week, Timberlake broke his silence following the arrest during his show at Chicago’s United Center on June 21.
“It’s been a tough week,” the singer told concert-goers. “I know I’m hard to love sometimes but you keep loving me right back.” He added, “We’ve been together through ups and downs and lefts and rights … but you’re here and I’m here, and nothing can change this moment right now.”
JT’s lawyer Edward Burke Jr. has stated that he will “vigorously” defend the star against the allegations. “He will have a lot to say at the appropriate time,” Burke said in a statement.
Timberlake’s next court hearing is scheduled for July 26, the same day he is scheduled to perform at Tauron Arena Krakow in Poland.
Justin Timberlake doesn’t appear to be taking his recent legal woes too seriously. As he took the stage in Boston on Saturday, the pop star seemed ready to joke about his recent arrest for reportedly driving while intoxicated. Video of the star addressing fans at his Forget Tomorrow World Tour show at the TD Garden caught the star playfully wondering, “So uh, is there anyone here tonight that is driving and … no I’m just kidding.”
Timberlake followed the quip by saying, “For all of you that it’s your first time tonight — on a serious note — I hope that you feel the fellowship and the love.”
The comment was almost certainly an allusion to the “Cry Me a River” singer’s June 18 arrest in Sag Harbor, New York.
According to arrest reports, Timberlake was pulled over and taken into police custody after an officer witnessed him running a stop sign and swerving in and out of traffic lanes.
After being stopped, arrest reports say the singer “performed poorly on all standardized field sobriety tests.”
During the stop, Timberlake reportedly told authorities that he only “had one martini” and was on his way to follow his friends home.
The NSYNC alum broke his silence regarding his arrest during his June 21 concert in Chicago, where he told fans, “We’ve been together through ups and downs, lefts and rights. It’s been a tough week. But you’re here, and I’m here, and nothing can change this moment right now.”
“I know sometimes I’m hard to love. But you keep on loving me, and I love you right back. Thank you so much,” he went on.
Timberlake’s lawyer has maintained the pop star’s innocence.
In a June 19 statement, attorney Edward Burke Jr. said he “looks forward to vigorously defending Mr. Timberlake against these allegations” and was “currently awaiting full discovery from the DA’s office.”
Timberlake is scheduled for a virtual court appearance on July 26 while he’ll be embarking on the European leg of his world tour.
