Karol G Denies Writing a Song for Nicolás Maduro

Karol G’s team has denied claims that the Colombian singer wrote a song for Nicolás Maduro’s presidential re-election campaign in Venezuela, as the politician had previously stated.

During a rally in Caracas over the weekend, Maduro, who is 61 years old, claimed that Karol G, aged 33, had composed and sent a song for his campaign. He joked, "We are going to debut it soon; I’ve already practiced the dance. Here, they call me gallo pinto, but abroad, they are calling me Nicol G, I don’t know why."

In response, a representative for the artist, known for her hit "Mañana será más bonito," told the local media outlet El Colombiano, "The assertions made by politicians or political parties claiming that Karol has sent songs for campaigns are not true." They further emphasized that "Karol’s music has never been used for political purposes or to take sides in campaigns," reiterating that it is "obviously not true" that any such song will be released soon.

This isn’t the first time Maduro has brought up the reggaeton superstar in public statements. On June 29, during an event in Puerto La Cruz, the president and Carabobo governor Rafael Lacava danced to Karol G’s song "Amargura" in front of a crowd. At that event, Maduro even performed an impromptu dance routine to the singer’s music.
