The 39-year-old pop star, engaged to ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ star Orlando Bloom, 47, and mother to their three-year-old daughter, Daisy Dove, recently showcased a series of daring outfits in the music video for her new single, “Woman’s World.” Ultimately, she takes pride in her body, as it played a fundamental role in her journey to motherhood.
In a recent column for The Daily Star, she expressed, “I own my sexuality. I embrace it. I feel responsible. I really feel responsible. I’m not ashamed. I’m happy about it. I’m proud of the body I have and my breasts. I brought a girl into this world, and she’s alive thanks to my breasts, so let’s celebrate them!”
The “I Kissed A Girl” singer faced criticism for the sexualized nature of the music video, particularly during a scene where she and her dancers perform a sexy choreography on a construction site before being “crushed” by an anvil, only to return with a new outfit.
In a behind-the-scenes video shared on Instagram, Katy addressed this moment, stating, “We’re just having fun, being a little sarcastic. It’s very tongue-in-cheek. With this set, I wanted to say, ‘Oh, we’re not about the male gaze, but we’re really about the male gaze.’ And we’re really exaggerating.”
The former “American Idol” judge, who last released an album in 2020, explained that the anvil moment was meant to serve as a “reset,” helping her embrace the “idea of the divine feminine.”
She added, “We wanted to open this video making it feel like a super shiny pop star clip.”
