Kelly Bensimon Enjoys Hamptons Weekend with Daughter Learning Polo After Canceling Wedding

Kelly Bensimon isn’t ringing any wedding bells. The former Real Housewives of New York City star, 56, took a trip to the Hamptons with her daughter Sea for what was supposed to be her wedding weekend. Instead of walking down the aisle, Bensimon spent time riding her horse and learning to play polo with instructors from Argentina at the Southampton Polo Club.

Saturday, June 29, was initially planned to be her wedding day to ex-fiancé Scott Litner. However, Bensimon decided to call off the wedding just days before the scheduled nuptials. On her Instagram Stories, she shared several videos from her time in the Hamptons, giving her followers a glimpse into her weekend activities.

In one of the first clips, her white fluffy dog Tarzan played on the grass, while Bensimon could be heard saying, “Tarzan playing on the polo field. Hi Tarzan!” She added a caption over the video, “In the spirit of my Hamptons.” Another video showed her daughter Sea playfully chasing Tarzan around the polo field, with the caption, “If you can’t beat em, join em.”

Bensimon also posted a video of polo players on the field during a match, soundtracked by the song “SSX” by the help. The lyrics, “‘Cause I need horses like you need drugs/Tell me why honey is sweeter than blood,” played as the players galloped over the pitch on their horses.

Earlier in the week, PEOPLE confirmed that Bensimon had called off her wedding to Litner on June 25, just four days before the planned ceremony. In a statement to Page Six, Bensimon explained, “I have decided that my two daughters are my priority and I won’t be moving forward with this wedding.”

She later elaborated on her decision, telling PEOPLE that it came down to Litner refusing to sign a prenuptial agreement. “Ultimately, my decision is nobody’s business, but I understand that there is speculation and gossip, and I want to put an end to all of it,” Bensimon shared. “To be clear, he refused to sign a prenuptial agreement, and I refused to marry him. Full stop.”

An insider close to Bensimon mentioned that she is taking time for herself to regroup during this difficult period. Litner, a finance executive, had proposed over the 4th of July weekend in 2023 while the couple was vacationing in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin. They later celebrated their engagement with a quiet romantic dinner in Chicago.

The couple had initially planned to host two separate celebrations. The first was to be a smaller ceremony at Litner’s mother’s home in Boston, followed by a larger celebration in the Hamptons at a later date, where all family and friends could come together.

Before her relationship with Litner, Bensimon was married to famed fashion photographer Gilles Bensimon from 1997 to 2006. They share two daughters, Sea and Teddy. Litner was also previously married twice and has his own children.

Despite the canceled wedding, Bensimon seemed to make the most of her weekend in the Hamptons. Her Instagram Stories captured moments of joy and relaxation, from playing with her dog to watching polo matches. It was a weekend that could have been filled with wedding festivities, but instead, it became a time for Bensimon to focus on herself and her family.

The decision to call off the wedding was undoubtedly a difficult one, but Bensimon appears to be handling it with grace. By prioritizing her daughters and her own well-being, she is setting an example of strength and resilience. As she continues to navigate this new chapter in her life, her fans and followers are likely to support her every step of the way.

In the end, Kelly Bensimon’s Hamptons weekend was not about a wedding, but about finding peace and joy in the company of her loved ones. Whether she was riding horses, learning polo, or simply enjoying the beautiful surroundings, Bensimon showed that life goes on, even when plans change.
