Kumail Nanjiani, guest hosting “Jimmy Kimmel Live” on Thursday, took a humorous jab at former President Donald Trump, highlighting a moment where Trump faltered on film. The comedian’s monologue centered around Trump’s reaction to an op-ed by George Clooney, which urged President Joe Biden to reconsider running for reelection. Trump responded by suggesting Clooney should “get out of politics and go back to television,” adding that “movies never really worked for him.”
Nanjiani was quick to point out the absurdity of Trump’s statement, noting that Clooney’s films have grossed a staggering $3.5 billion. “You know who movies never worked out for? Donald Trump!” Nanjiani quipped. He then referenced Trump’s brief cameo in “Home Alone 2,” which he described as a failure. “A man who somehow blew a one-second cameo in ‘Home Alone 2,'” Nanjiani said, drawing laughter from the audience.
But Nanjiani didn’t stop there. He delved deeper into Trump’s less-than-stellar film career, mentioning Trump’s role in the 1994 “Little Rascals” movie. “Trump also messed up so badly in the role of Waldo’s Dad that this is the first time you’re hearing of it,” Nanjiani remarked. “That’s right. He killed the ‘Little Rascals’ franchise like it knew the details of his relationship with Jeffrey Epstein.”
The comedian then touched on a sensitive topic for Trump: his failed casino ventures. “Of course, the big difference between George Clooney and Donald Trump is that George Clooney actually made money from a casino,” Nanjiani said, hitting a sore spot for the former president.
Nanjiani’s monologue was a blend of humor and pointed criticism, showcasing his ability to tackle political topics with wit. The audience’s reaction indicated that Nanjiani’s take on Trump’s film career and his response to Clooney’s op-ed resonated well.
