LaLiga Studios, a collaboration between Banijay Iberia and LaLiga, has announced a new agreement with Little Spain, a production company founded by Spanish artist C. Tangana. This partnership aims to create a fiction series set in the world of professional football, marking a significant milestone in sports entertainment.
The project is highlighted as a groundbreaking initiative, being the first production to utilize LaLiga’s intellectual property and receive official sanction from a prominent competition. LaLiga Studios sees this as a rare opportunity to develop a series that authentically explores the clubs, their talent, stadiums, and passionate fanbases. Chalo Bonifacino Cooke, the CEO of the joint venture, expressed enthusiasm about achieving a level of authenticity rarely seen in football-related fiction.
The team at Little Spain emphasized their goal of crafting a narrative that reflects the essence of Spanish professional football, while also embracing the unique identities of LaLiga’s teams. They explained that this creative venture is a collaboration with actor Josh Hutcherson, who has become a friend and ally of Little Spain in Los Angeles. This project holds significance for Little Spain as it allows them to tell a story that connects two important locations: Spain and the United States. They aim to capture the vibrant world of football and its exclusive lifestyle through a combination of emotional storytelling and their distinctive cinematic style.
According to LaLiga, this project represents a new milestone in the strategic partnership between LaLiga and Banijay Iberia, a content powerhouse with 130 producers across 21 territories, in collaboration with Little Spain. Previously, the two entities worked together to create the anthem "1voiceVSRACISM," aimed at combating racism, which resonated throughout stadiums, garnering over 193 million impressions and a media value exceeding €9.7 million.
In June, Little Spain achieved notable recognition, winning three Gold Lions at the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity, one of the most prestigious advertising awards globally. Their success was bolstered by the music video for the anthem composed by C. Tangana, celebrating the centenary of RC Celta.
