Sara Carbonero chose to spend her summer reconnecting with her roots rather than indulging in exotic getaways. She returned to her hometown of Corral de Almaguer in Toledo to be close to her family. It is in these places where the past, present, and future converge, tangled in an imaginary braid that captures our pain. Sometimes, this pain, combined with the daily noise we face, obscures the essential,” she wrote.

Reflecting on family, she noted, “We often overlook the silent places or people who are always there, never asking for anything. They are children with whom you can have adult conversations, or a grandmother who may forget our name but never our childhood stories. This is the wildest life we can lead, full of adventure and genuine connections.”

Sara deeply appreciates the loved ones who stand by her during challenging times. Five years ago, she faced one of the toughest battles of her life when doctors discovered a malignant tumor in her ovaries during a routine check-up on May 10, 2019, leading to emergency surgery. Following that, she embarked on an extensive chemotherapy journey, further complicated by her separation from Iker Casillas, the father of her children, in 2021. These experiences have taught her to value the small details that everyday life offers, which often go unnoticed. “Thank you, life, for the challenges and lessons; my learning would not be the same without the stones along the way,” she expressed.

Sara is also a lover of reading and finds tranquility in beautiful sunsets paired with the rhythm of Taylor Swift’s Exile while reflecting on poetry by Edisson Cajilima Márquez that resonates with her life experience: “The most beautiful souls bloom amidst chaos.”

Professionally, she continues to lead the fashion brand Slow Love, a joint venture with her dear friend Isabel Jiménez.
