LIVE: Heads Up, today the preferential lane on 13th Street goes into operation. Here’s how mobility is in Bogotá on July 22nd.

The Bogotá Mayor’s Office recently highlighted the significance of a new preferential lane on Carrera 13, located between Calle 67 and Calle 19. This new lane aims to help organize traffic, enhance road safety, and reduce travel times, especially given the disruption caused by the Metro Line 1 construction on Avenida Caracas.

Starting July 22, there will also be a closure of the southeast connector of Avenida Boyacá with Avenida Primero de Mayo, alongside the closure of the south lane of Avenida Primero de Mayo. This is due to the ongoing construction of utility networks, which is expected to cause some traffic disruptions in the area.

The Transmilenio bus route T38 is undergoing a name change. As of July 22, it will be referred to as K542 (Modelia) and G542 (Metrovivienda), and the route will be adjusted in the Patio Bonito sector to better serve the needs of commuters.

There has been a report of a truck Breakdown in Usaquén on Autopista Norte at Calle 127A, moving from south to north. The local Bogotá traffic account has provided updates regarding this incident, advising drivers to seek alternative routes where possible.

On July 22, the current Pico y Placa restrictions dictate that plates ending in 6, 7, 8, 9, and 0 may circulate, while those ending in 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 are prohibited from doing so. It is crucial for drivers to be aware of these restrictions to avoid penalties.

Despite some disruptions, both Transmilenio and the Integrated Public Transport System (SITP) are operating normally as of 4 AM on July 22. Travelers should note that public transport in Bogotá typically experiences heavy peaks during rush hours, which may lead to crowding.

For those traveling through the city, it’s important to keep in mind that routes may be affected due to the adjustments and construction activities in various areas, including the ongoing work on Avenida 80. A lane will be closed for two months, starting from midnight on July 23, while utility networks are relocated, with signage and detours provided for your convenience.

Finally, make sure to check whether your vehicle’s license plate is subject to the Pico y Placa restrictions before heading out. Non-compliance could lead to both fines and immobilization of your vehicle. Remember to plan your journeys accordingly to avoid any inconvenience.
