I’m not typically the target audience for shows like TLC’s “90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way.” It’s one of those reality shows that often makes me cringe. However, my girlfriend Michele is absolutely hooked on it. That’s how I discovered that the latest season features a man from Maine.
The premise of the show is that Americans move to another country to marry someone they’ve usually never met in person. The culture shock and ensuing struggles provide the show’s “can’t-miss” allure. Michele can’t get enough of it.
One of the contestants this season is James from Maine. We don’t know his last name or exactly where in Maine he’s from. He’s simply “James from Maine.” According to TLC’s website, James and his wife Meitalia have been married and living in Maine for two and a half years after meeting online. Meitalia, feeling homesick, decides they need to move to Indonesia to be with her family, a move James isn’t thrilled about.
The first episode of Season 6 has already aired, but the one featuring James and Meitalia is set to air on TLC on Monday, July 8. If you miss it, don’t worry. TLC will rerun it multiple times between July 8 and July 21. You can also catch it on demand on TLC Go, Max, and several other streaming services.

However, job hurdles in China leave Josh unemployed and Lily as the main breadwinner, causing tension in their relationship. Financial woes spark heated debates even among their families. Will these issues sink their relationship, or can love conquer all?
James from Maine and Meitalia from Indonesia have been married for two and a half years since they met online. They’ve been living in Maine but soon move to Indonesia to be with her family. James, already dreading the family meeting, faces a whole new level of stress once they’re in Indonesia. Meitalia’s family bombards him with questions: When will he learn their language?
