A 42-year-old man is in critical condition after being assaulted outside a concert by Colombian artist Karol G at the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium. The alleged attacker struck the victim in the head during a heated argument that erupted after several women accused him of recording them with his phone.
The incident occurred around 1 a.m., as tens of thousands of concertgoers were leaving the venue following the last of four performances by Karol G. Near the intersection of Padre Damián and Alberto Alcocer streets, some attendees expressed discomfort, believing that a man was filming them without consent.
The man involved claimed he was on a video call with his partner and had no intention of recording the women. Despite his explanation, witnesses sided with the group and confronted him, which led to a strong dispute. In the midst of the confrontation, one individual attacked the man, causing him to fall to the ground.
Two officers from the Madrid Municipal Police, who were directing traffic after the concert, witnessed the incident and arrested the alleged attacker. Emergency services from Samur-Protección Civil arrived promptly to assist the victim, who had sustained severe head trauma and bleeding from one ear. Medical personnel intubated him and transported him to a hospital in grave condition.
Although the arrest was made by municipal police, the investigation into the incident, given its potential classification as attempted homicide, has been handed over to the National Police. The suspected assailant will remain in police custody until he is referred to a judge.
