Man Regrets Sending Guns N’ Roses Song to Wife on Their Anniversary

A man recently found himself in hot water after sending a Guns N’ Roses song to his wife on their 14th wedding anniversary. The individual, who goes by the username Surgeon Michael on Reddit, shared his story on the platform, admitting he “made a mistake” on this special occasion.

In his post, he explained that he was trying to find a unique way to commemorate their 14 years of marriage. Although he doesn’t listen to Guns N’ Roses albums much anymore, he remembered a song titled “14 Years” from their 1991 album “Use Your Illusion II.” The track features vocals from rhythm guitarist Izzy Stradlin alongside Axl Rose.

Thinking it would be a thoughtful gesture, he sent the song to his wife via YouTube without any context and then went into surgery, feeling confident about his choice. However, he soon realized he didn’t remember the lyrics as well as he thought. His wife, on the other hand, did not appreciate the song, which is more of a breakup anthem than a love song.

For those unfamiliar with the lyrics, the chorus goes, “It’s been 14 years of silence / It’s been 14 years of pain / It’s been 14 years that are gone forever / That I’ll never have again.” The verses don’t offer much solace either, making it clear why the song was not well-received.

Surgeon Michael didn’t provide details on his wife’s reaction, but given that he acknowledged his mistake in the post’s title, it’s safe to say he is indeed in the doghouse. One Reddit user responded, “It’s more like a breakup song after 14 years of pain,” while another suggested, “Now you need to send her ‘Sweet Child O’ Mine’ as damage control.”

This incident serves as a reminder to always double-check the lyrics and context of a song before sending it as a romantic gesture. Hopefully, Surgeon Michael will choose a more appropriate song for their 15th anniversary.
