Marina reflects on her marriage to Carlos, saying, “I never thought about whether I would get married or what dress I would wear. I hadn’t even considered how my wedding would look! I think those thoughts come when you meet the right person. Until then, it simply hadn’t crossed my mind. But when he proposed, all the excitement, ideas, and longings I never had before flooded my mind.” Their wedding on October 7, 2023, at the San Francisco Church in Ferrol, turned her into one of the most inspiring viral brides of the season, largely due to her stunning dress designed by Sara Lage.

When asked about the beginning of their journey, Marina recalls it being a story of love at first sight. They met at work and immediately felt a deep connection. “He is a wonderful person, and thanks to him, I truly believe in love at first sight. Although we started dating much later, something inside me told me he would be part of my future,” she reminisces.

For her special day, Marina had a clear vision for her dress, stating, “I liked parts of almost every dress I saw but wanted something that represented me throughout the different moments of the wedding. Sara Lage made that possible.” Together with designer Sara Lage, they created a breathtaking gown from yards and yards of tulle.

Marina emphasized the importance of staying true to oneself when it comes to choosing a wedding dress. “It was crucial to find a balance between comfort and personal style. I wanted to feel beautiful and confident,” she explains.

Finding someone who truly understands your vision can be challenging, but Marina felt an instant connection with Sara, whom she describes as a magical fairy godmother who turned her dream into reality. After every fitting, they made alterations to ensure it was a perfect match for Marina’s personality.

Reflecting on the dress design process, she said, “It was an incredible experience! I was always accompanied by my sister and Carlos’s mother, and we all enjoyed the process. Sara made every appointment feel like an adventure, and I was able to incorporate every idea I had.”

Marina opted for minimalistic accessories, letting her gown shine. “With such a prominent dress, I decided to keep the accessories to a minimum. I focused on my earrings, which belonged to my mother. I also wore my engagement ring and another diamond ring from my mom,” she shares.

One striking detail included her shoes: white platform heels inspired by 1970s aesthetics. “Finding the perfect shoes was a journey. I eventually found a discontinued pair from Angel Alarcón after an intense search,” she recalls, laughing.

Marina arranged her own hair and makeup, preferring a natural look that matched the style of her dress. Her hairstylist, Marina Allegue, managed everything at her home, ensuring she felt comfortable and beautiful.

The floral part of her wedding came courtesy of her three best friends, who gifted her a bouquet made entirely of mini white ranunculus flowers sourced from Holland. “I wanted something natural yet distinct, something that wouldn’t be found on any typical day at a florist,” she adds.

Both Marina and Carlos are from Ferrol, and they reflect on not meeting until much later in life, despite both being in the military. Their love story began when they finally connected at work, leading to a three-year engagement. He proposed during a trip to the south, a moment she describes as entirely unexpected.

The couple chose the Pazo de San Tirso in La Coruña for their reception, drawn in by the beautiful antique furniture and the rustic charm of the venue. Marina was determined to create different atmospheres throughout the day, allowing guests to experience various settings for the cocktail, meal, and dancing.

Despite potential weather challenges, Marina and Carlos prepared for everything, even considering renting heaters just in case. However, on what turned out to be one of the warmest weekends of the year in Ferrol, they ended up providing fans for their guests.

Marina sent a heartfelt thank-you to the team of vendors who made their wedding magical, including Sara Lage for the dress, Daniel Santalla for photography, Marina Allegue for hair and makeup, Josmaga for catering, Catu Martinez for videography, and more.
