Megan Thee Stallion Kicks Off 2024 BET Awards With Electrifying Medley

Megan Thee Stallion kicked off the 2024 BET Awards on Sunday night (June 30) with an electrifying medley of tracks from her latest album, “Megan.” The rapper made a grand entrance, emerging from an egg—a nod to her album cover and its snake motif—before setting the stage ablaze with her seething Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 diss track, “Hiss.” An army of women joined her for a twerk-filled performance of “Boa,” adding to the high-energy spectacle.

“BET, where my girls at? Where my twin at? Where Victoria [Monét] at? Coco [Jones], you look pretty in the front,” Megan shouted, hyping up the crowd while her enviable knees did what needed to be done on “Where Them Girls At.” She concluded her performance with her signature “ahh” tongue move, leaving the audience in awe.

Megan is up for four awards this year: Best Collaboration and Video of the Year for “Bongos” alongside Cardi B, as well as Best Female Hip-Hop Artist and BET Her for “Hiss.” The 29-year-old Grammy-winning rapper released her third studio album, “Megan,” on Friday (June 28) via her independent label Hot Girl Productions, following her departure from 300 Entertainment and 1501 Certified. The 18-track project includes previously released singles “Cobra,” “Hiss,” and “Boa,” as well as collaborations with Kyle Richh (“B.A.S.”), Yuki Chiba (“Mamushi”), GloRilla (“Accent”), UGK (“Paper Together”), Monét (“Spin”), and Big K.R.I.T. and Buddah Bless (“Miami Blue”). Megan is currently on her 2024 Hot Girl Summer Tour alongside GloRilla.

Hosted by Taraji P. Henson for the third consecutive year, the 2024 BET Awards took place at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles. The event was a celebration of Black excellence in music, sports, television, and movies, featuring show-stopping performances and honoring some of the biggest names in entertainment.

The 2023 BET Awards had set a high bar with unforgettable performances and tributes, including a heartfelt homage to the late Takeoff by Quavo and Offset, and a Lifetime Achievement Award for Brooklyn native and rap icon Busta Rhymes. Latto defended her crown as Best Female Hip-Hop Artist, and Coco Jones earned her first-ever BET Award for Best New Artist. The ceremony also celebrated 50 years of hip-hop, with artists from various regions showcasing the genre’s rich history and cultural impact.

As we gear up for another year of celebrating Black excellence, Megan Thee Stallion’s electrifying performance at the 2024 BET Awards has set the tone for what promises to be another unforgettable event. Tune in to the BET Awards 2024 on Sunday, June 30 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on BET.
