Former President Donald Trump’s youngest son, Barron Trump, is set to graduate from high school this week amid speculation about his future college plans. Barron will be graduating from Oxbridge Academy in Palm Beach, Florida, on Friday morning. His father, Donald Trump, is expected to attend the ceremony after Judge Juan Merchan agreed to pause court proceedings in New York, where Trump is attending his criminal hush money trial, to allow him to be present.
This milestone comes after weeks of questions about Barron’s future. The Trump family has remained tight-lipped about where he plans to attend college. At 18, Barron has kept a lower profile compared to his parents and siblings, though many of the former president’s supporters and critics have speculated about his post-high school plans.
During an event at Mar-a-Lago earlier in May, Donald Trump provided an update on his son’s college plans. “Right now, he’s doing a great job. He has great marks. He’s going to be going to college soon. And we’re looking at some colleges that are different [than] they were two months ago,” Trump said during the NFT event on May 9, according to a video posted to X, formerly Twitter.
Meanwhile, former first lady Melania Trump’s office released a statement clarifying that Barron would not be attending the Republican National Convention in July, despite being chosen as a delegate by the Florida Republican Party. “While Barron is honored to have been chosen as a delegate by the Florida Republican Party, he regretfully declines to participate due to prior commitments,” her office said on May 10, without elaborating on what these commitments are.
The statement came after Barron faced a wave of ridicule and criticism following the announcement of his delegate role. Critics argued that his entry into politics made him “fair game” for criticism. The former president has previously hinted at possible plans for Barron. In a September 2023 interview with Megyn Kelly, he mentioned that Barron was “thinking about” attending his alma mater, the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, adding that Barron is a “great student” and athlete.
Three of Trump’s other children, Ivanka, Tiffany, and Donald Jr., also attended the University of Pennsylvania. In April, the Daily Beast reported that Barron was considering attending New York University in Manhattan. However, that report was based on anonymous sources and has not been confirmed by either the Trump family or the college.
Former aide Stephanie Winston Wolkoff has given her own interpretation to Melania Trump’s two-word reply about her involvement in Donald Trump’s presidential campaign. Wolkoff shared on X that Melania’s remark had a different interpretation than what many might assume. She also recently clarified her tweet about Donald no longer displaying any act of chivalry towards Melania.
On Tuesday, Melania made an appearance alongside her husband, Donald, at the Florida presidential primary. Given the rarity of her appearance, the press seized the opportunity to ask the former model probing questions, one of which was whether she would play an active role in Donald’s re-election bid. In response, Melania gave a cryptic reply, saying, “Stay tuned,” and chose not to elaborate further on the subject. This response has since circulated online and has most recently been interpreted by Melania’s former aide, Wolkoff.
Taking to X, Wolkoff claimed that the remark meant “Don’t hold your breath,” suggesting that MAGA supporters shouldn’t expect her to get actively involved anytime soon. “When a journalist asked, ‘Mrs. Trump, are you going to return to the campaign trail with your husband?’ Melania said, ‘Stay Tuned’ Let me interpret this for you. DON’T HOLD YOUR BREATH,” the book author wrote in her post.
Several social media users commented on Wolkoff’s post, stating that her interpretation was somewhat true. One X user said, “Look at Melania’s body language; she has no desire to be standing next to Trump.” Another person commented, “Thanks for the translation, Stephanie. I count on you to be the one who knows.”
Some other fans speculated that Melania made the comment due to an alleged business arrangement between her and Donald. “I figure she makes a once monthly obligatory showing, as drawn up in the contract, and an added bonus every time she holds his hand or lets him touch her in any way,” someone claimed.
Earlier this month, Wolkoff clarified her tweet about how “Donald” no longer displays chivalry towards Melania. “Let me bottom line this for you,” Wolkoff wrote in a post on X, quoting a video from one of the couple’s appearances. “Perception is everything to the Trump Family, so Donald’s lack of ‘chivalry’ towards Melania is quite a ‘tell.'”
She added, “Chivalry for Donald was waiting for Melania to go first & ensuring she walked by his side. He’s been doing neither recently. Take a [look].” After her tweet was speculated to mean that Donald and Melania’s marriage was “on the rocks,” Wolkoff explained that she was only “highlighting the shift in their dynamics.”
Amid speculations about the status of Donald and Melania’s marriage, New York Times reporter Katie Rogers recently offered a peek into the 53-year-old’s life as the former first lady in her book, “American Woman.” She claimed that the mother of one spent the majority of her time “meeting with teams of lawyers to examine her assets and attend to matters associated with her pre- and postnuptial agreements with her husband.”
Another reporter, Mary Jordan, also wrote about the prenup in her biography of Melania, titled “The Art of Her Deal.” Jordan said Melania used her leverage as First Lady at the time to renegotiate the deal and protect the interests of her son, Barron. “She wanted proof in writing that when it came to financial opportunities and inheritance, Barron would be treated as more of an equal to Trump’s oldest three children,” Jordan wrote, adding that all Melania wanted to do was protect her son Barron’s “rightful share of inheritance.”
On Wednesday, Donald and Melania’s son Barron, who has stayed out of the public eye for years, turned 18. Unlike his elder siblings, Barron has been free of criticism by the public; however, following his recent birthday celebration, former NBC senior executive Mike Sington stated that the 18-year-old is now “fair game.” Sington wrote in a since-deleted tweet, “Barron Trump turns 18 today. He’s fair game now.”
The comment sparked outrage from Republicans, with some branding the former exec “creepy” and “weird” for posting such a tweet. Sington later told Newsweek what he really meant by “fair game.” He said, “I posted he was ‘fair game’ now, meaning, as an adult, he’s ‘fair game’ for criticism from the press.” “Someone pointed out to me ‘fair game’ could mean fair game to be harmed. I don’t wish physical harm on anyone, so I took it down. I listen to the comments and criticism I receive,” Sington added.
