CrowdStrike, a cybersecurity platform linked to the Windows operating system, experienced a failure that caused issues for millions of users worldwide.
In this context, the Canal E team spoke with Carlos Pallotti, a systems and technology specialist, who explained the reasons behind the failure.
Failures in Microsoft
“There was an issue with a software, and a small problem affected millions of people,” Pallotti said, adding, “A localized problem can generate widespread issues.”
“A cybersecurity software had a bug that affected Microsoft,” the expert continued. “The software is responsible for ensuring the security of our files in the cloud, and this function failed,” he added.
Along the same lines, the analyst mentioned that the software updated automatically and a programming issue led to the notorious blue screen. “You have to enter safe mode, delete a specific file of the software, and that resolves the problem,” he detailed.
Finally, Pallotti explained why the issue affects some users and not others. “It particularly impacts users of Azure, a Microsoft cloud storage service,” he concluded.
