Military Seizes Over 180 Kilos of Cocaine in Meta; One Arrested

During a traffic control operation at the Ocoa toll booth in Acacías, Meta, the Colombian Military Forces and National Police seized 179 kilograms of hydrochloride cocaine that were being transported on the roof of a delivery truck.

According to official reports, the confiscated shipment was valued at over 917 million pesos and was intended for illegal armed groups operating in eastern Colombia. A 33-year-old man was arrested at the scene, and he will face charges related to drug trafficking, manufacturing, and possession of narcotics.

In a separate operation, the military and environmental authority Cormacarena conducted a crackdown on structures involved in illegal mining along the Cafre River. This operation took place in the Payandesal neighborhood of the rural area of Mesetas, resulting in the capture of six individuals. Authorities also seized heavy machinery, including four dump trucks, an excavator, and an industrial screener, all of which were causing environmental harm.

Later, during another military operation in Acacías, the National Army arrested a suspect wanted for aggravated homicide and aggravated theft. This person is believed to have participated in the murder and robbery of a retired lieutenant from the National Penitentiary and Prison Institute (Inpec) on July 10, 2024.

Authorities issued a statement assuring that the National Army and Police are continuously fighting against illegal organizations in Meta, aiming to ensure a safer and more peaceful region.
