Morgan Wallen to officially release fan-favorite ballad ‘Lies Lies Lies’

Morgan Wallen’s impressive streak of dominating summer radio and streaming platforms with hit singles is set to continue with the release of his ballad “Lies Lies Lies” on July 5, 2024. This release is a strategic move, banking on the theory that Wallen’s global popularity can sustain his remarkable record of over 100 million singles sold in the past decade.

Interestingly, “Lies Lies Lies” isn’t a brand-new track. It was initially released in March as part of a seven-song acoustic session recorded at Studio Two in London’s iconic Abbey Road Studios on December 5, 2023. This session took place just before Wallen’s performance at the O2 Arena in London. In a studio where legends like Adele, The Beatles, Oasis, Pink Floyd, and Ed Sheeran have recorded, Wallen re-recorded several tracks from his quintuple-platinum album “One Thing At A Time.” These included “Thinkin’ Bout Me,” “Sunrise,” “Everything I Love,” “I Wrote The Book,” and “I Deserve A Drink,” along with “Lies Lies Lies” and a cover of Nothing But Thieves’ “Graveyard Whistling.”

The song “Lies Lies Lies” is penned by award-winning songwriters Jessie Jo Dillon, Josh Miller, Daniel Ross, and Chris Tompkins. Wallen’s decision to officially release this fan-favorite ballad coincides with his return to London for his first-ever headlining set at BST Hyde Park London on July 4, 2024. He will be joined by openers Riley Green, ERNEST, Ella Langley, Alana Springsteen, Zandi Holup, and more.

“Lies Lies Lies” is a heartfelt ballad where Wallen attempts to convince a past love that he has moved on, only to admit that he’s lying. This stripped-down track has been a highlight of his One Night At A Time tour, which included three stops in Nashville just two months ago. These tour dates occurred before Wallen’s latest mega-hit, “I Had Some Help,” a six-week No. 1 success featuring Post Malone.

Wallen’s 2024 is shaping up to be as successful as 2023, which saw his 16-week all-genre Billboard Hot 100 chart-topper and Spotify’s Song of the Summer, “Last Night.” He also scored a double-play of top 10 country radio hits with “Everything I Love,” which interpolated the Allman Brothers’ “Midnight Rider,” and “Thinkin’ Bout Me.”

Fans were thrilled when Wallen announced the official release of “Lies Lies Lies” during his headlining 2024 One Night At A Time Tour at the Veterans United Home Loans Amphitheatre in Virginia Beach, Virginia. The song had first been performed alongside his friends and label mates, Hardy and Ernest, during a surprise appearance at the SoHo House in Nashville, Tennessee, last February. It was also featured in his Abbey Road Studios Session.

While fans will have to wait until July 4th for the official release, the anticipation is building. The song is expected to be a perfect addition to summer playlists, whether for grilling out or cruising down the lake on Independence Day.

Morgan Wallen’s ability to stay in the spotlight is undeniable. Earlier this month, it was announced that his old record label, Panacea Records, would be releasing a 10th-anniversary record of his Stand Alone EP, including old songs from the vault that Wallen never intended to release. Wallen took to social media to explain that these songs were some of the first he had ever written and had no intention of officially releasing them. However, he also announced that the fan-favorite “Spin You Around” would be released by his current team at Big Loud Records.

Despite limited single releases, Wallen’s influence on the country music scene remains strong. Randall King and Conner Smith each released new projects, “Into the Neon” and “Smoky Mountains,” respectively. Conner Smith’s debut LP hits all the right notes with modern cadences and trends while staying true to his older influences. Randall King’s third LP and second on a major label also made waves.

The new year has also seen exciting developments for other artists. Dylan Gossett’s “Coal” debuted at #89 on the Billboard Hot 100, and Tyler Childers finally got his first-ever charting single on country radio with “In Your Love.” Emerging artists like Zach Top, The Castellows, and Gavin Adcock are also gaining momentum with new releases and upcoming projects.

Summer tour announcements are heating up, with Brooks and Dunn heading out on another “Reboot” tour, joined by ERNEST and David Lee Murphy. Morgan Wade and Charles Wesley Godwin also announced tours for the year. Additionally, Kenny Chesney and Sierra Ferrell have new full-length projects set to release on March 29th and 22nd, respectively.

Morgan Wallen’s upcoming release of “Lies Lies Lies” is highly anticipated and is sure to be another hit in his already impressive catalog. Fans can look forward to adding this ballad to their summer playlists and enjoying Wallen’s continued success in the country music scene.
