**New Housewife Racquel Chevremont Joins The Real Housewives of New York City Season 15**
The Real Housewives of New York City (RHONY) is set to welcome a new face for its 15th season. Racquel Chevremont, an accomplished art curator and model, will join the cast, bringing a fresh perspective and a wealth of experience to the popular Bravo reality series. Chevremont will be joining the previously announced cast members Sai De Silva, Ubah Hassan, Erin Lichy, Jenna Lyons, Jessel Taank, and Brynn Whitfield. Additionally, Rebecca Minkoff is set to join the cast in a friend role.
Chevremont’s addition to the RHONY cast marks a significant moment for the franchise, as she becomes the second openly queer housewife, following Jenna Lyons, who joined the show last season during a major cast reboot. This move aligns with Bravo’s ongoing efforts to diversify its programming and better represent the country’s demographics.
In an interview with GLAAD, Chevremont expressed her excitement about joining the iconic franchise. “My entire adult life has been about representation and using whatever platform I have to get the voices of queer folks of the diaspora out there,” she said. “What better way to do so if not as a member of this iconic franchise.”
Chevremont’s career began in the ’90s as a model, working with brands such as Bobbi Brown Cosmetics, Fila, L’Oréal, and Nivea. Her experience in the art world is equally impressive, having curated collections for film and TV projects including “Severance,” “Empire,” and “And Just Like That.” She has also worked with renowned artists like Dawoud Bey, Natia Lemay, Glenn Ligon, Julie Mehretu, Gordon Parks, and Deborah Roberts.
Born and raised in the Bronx, Chevremont is a true New Yorker. Her deep connection to the city and her extensive experience in the art and fashion industries make her a unique addition to the RHONY cast. She is also a proud queer Black woman and a co-founder of The Josie Club, a social impact group that organizes community events for queer Black women.
Chevremont’s decision to join RHONY was made in conjunction with her family. She emphasized the importance of representation and visibility for the queer community. “In the current world climate, it’s important for not only our community to see themselves represented but also for the world to get to know a queer family in a more intimate way and show that we all have more similarities than not,” she told GLAAD. “That queer women can be successful, beautiful, and in loving relationships raising children too. That this world exists.”
The addition of Chevremont to the RHONY cast comes after a tumultuous 13th season, which was marred by allegations of racism among the cast. In response, Bravo replaced the legacy cast with a new main cast in 2022 ahead of season 14. The rookie cast, which includes Jenna Lyons, has been confirmed to return for season 15.
Andy Cohen, host of “Watch What Happens Live” and executive producer of the Real Housewives franchise, has spoken about Bravo’s efforts to diversify its shows. “I’m proud of all the work that Bravo has put into making their shows more representative of the country’s demographics,” Cohen said in a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter. “George Floyd was an important cultural shift that forced us to look at all of our programming. Bravo made it a mandate to diversify its shows.”
Chevremont’s presence on RHONY is expected to bring a new level of authenticity and representation to the show. She hopes to use her platform to showcase a loving, fun family and to highlight the similarities that exist between people, regardless of their sexual orientation. “I hope that seeing me and my family and being able to relate to us will perhaps change a couple of hearts and minds,” she said.
As RHONY continues to evolve, the addition of Racquel Chevremont promises to bring fresh energy and new perspectives to the series. Fans can look forward to seeing how she navigates the dynamics of the group and contributes to the ongoing narrative of the show.
