Nicola Peltz plans to sue dog groomer over chihuahua’s death

Nicola Peltz, the daughter-in-law of David Beckham, is reportedly planning to sue a New York dog groomer following the sudden death of her beloved chihuahua, Nala. The 29-year-old actress, who is married to Brooklyn Beckham, expressed her heartbreak on social media, revealing that Nala suffered a medical emergency after a visit to the groomer.

In a heartfelt Instagram post in June, Peltz shared that Nala was “perfectly healthy” before the grooming appointment but emerged from the dog parlour “hyperventilating” and unable to catch her breath. Despite being rushed to an emergency vet, Nala passed away hours later. Peltz described the incident as the hardest month of her life and expressed her profound grief.

“I can’t even find the words to describe my heartbreak on so many levels,” Peltz wrote. “Nala was perfectly healthy when she went to the groomers yesterday but came out hyperventilating and couldn’t catch her breath. We rushed her to the vet and she passed hours later. I’m sharing this in hopes that it might prevent this from happening to other dogs. Her life was taken away from her way too soon. She was my beautiful queen and stayed by my side for nine years through everything.”

Peltz urged pet owners to be cautious about who they entrust with their pets, emphasizing that one day without Nala felt like an eternity. She also mentioned that she is investigating the circumstances surrounding Nala’s death and is determined to uncover the truth. According to TMZ, the groomer has not been cooperating with the family.

In another Instagram post, Peltz revealed that other people had experienced similar issues with dog groomers. She described herself as a “dog activist” and vowed to do everything in her power to prevent such tragedies from happening to other pets. “I am relentlessly investigating the situation to find out exactly what happened in that groomer’s van,” she wrote.

Brooklyn Beckham also took to social media to express his sorrow over Nala’s death. He shared that they hope others do not experience a similar loss after something as routine as a grooming appointment. “You were the cutest little baby girl and we will always think of you. We know you are looking and barking down on us. We love you so much and miss you beyond,” he wrote.

TMZ reported that Nala had fluid in her lungs, a rapid heart rate, and neurological problems when she was taken to the emergency vet. Friends of the family have indicated that Peltz’s motivation to sue is to prevent other pet owners from facing similar heartbreak.

This legal action is not the first time the Peltz family has been involved in a dispute. Nicola Peltz’s father, Nelson Peltz, a billionaire investor, previously sued the wedding planning firm Plan Design Events (PDE) ahead of Nicola and Brooklyn’s wedding in April 2023. He accused the company of failing to return a $159,000 deposit and not being able to handle the expectations of the VIP guest list, which included over five hundred people, including numerous celebrities, athletes, dignitaries, and other influential individuals.

The wedding planners countersued, describing Nelson Peltz as a “billionaire bully” and criticized the family for putting them through “wedding planning hell.” The dispute was eventually settled out of court in September, with the company confirming the agreement in a statement to People magazine. As part of the settlement, PDE agreed to make a donation in the name of Nicola and Brooklyn to the CARE Ukraine Crisis Fund.

Nicola Peltz’s determination to seek justice for Nala’s death highlights her commitment to animal welfare and her desire to prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future. As she continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding Nala’s tragic passing, pet owners are reminded to be vigilant about the care and treatment their pets receive.
