The native security application on Android, Play Protect, is set to introduce a new feature that allows users to manually conduct a second scan of an app identified as malicious, without needing to uninstall it first.
Play Protect is a security tool linked to the Play Store that scans applications to protect devices from malware and provides security during web browsing. When it detects an app behaving maliciously, it alerts the user and either prompts for its deletion or automatically removes it from the device.
However, this approach will soon change. The Google Play Store app (version 41.9.17) has revealed code for a new feature currently in testing. This addition will enable users to execute a manual second scan after the system has flagged an app as potentially harmful.
Importantly, users will not have to uninstall the suspected app before running this second scan, enhancing user convenience and security protocol. This development aims to empower users by providing them with further insights into the safety of their applications.
