Ione Belarra, the Secretary General of Podemos, emphasized on Monday that the PSOE must commit to reversing the “dismantling of the social bond” if they expect Podemos to support the ratification of the latest anti-crisis decree in the Congress this Wednesday.
Belarra firmly stated that “the votes of Podemos should not be used for cuts.” She expressed her concerns about the current decree being pushed by the government, particularly its implications for the social electricity bond, which she believes includes significant cuts.
In this context, she reiterated that if the government wishes for Podemos to facilitate the ratification process, they will need to eliminate those cuts. Since the decree law is already in effect following its publication in the Boletín Oficial del Estado (BOE), any adjustments to maintain the social bond would require the government to commit through an amendment and to process the decree as a bill.
