Prime Video Spain Reveals Thriller Zeta and Porn Store Drama Cochinas

Prime Video Spain has unveiled an exciting new slate of content, including the thriller “Zeta” and the drama series “Cochinas,” at a recent Prime Video Presents event in Madrid. This announcement underscores Prime Video’s commitment to expanding its offerings in Spain, with a mix of new movies, drama series, documentaries, and true-crime shows.

Ricardo Cabornero, Director at Prime Video in Spain and Portugal, highlighted the success of the platform in the Iberian region, calling it a “record-breaking year.” Among the new titles, the thriller “Zeta” stands out. The film follows a Spanish CNI agent named Zeta, who is on a mission to track down a former spy involved in an undercover operation 35 years ago. The plot thickens as Zeta and a Colombian agent, Alfa, discover that the other five participants in the mission have been murdered simultaneously at different embassies around the world. As they delve deeper, they uncover long-hidden secrets, including the existence of a mysterious spy who might hold the key to everything.

Mario Casas, known for “No Matarás,” stars in “Zeta,” with Dani de Torre directing a script by Oriol Paulo and Jordi Vallejo. Fonte Films is producing, with Carla Perez Albéniz as the executive producer and Pablo Isla as the producer. The film is set to launch soon on Prime Video.

Another intriguing addition is the scripted series “Cochinas,” set in Valladolid in 1998. The story revolves around Nines, a conservative housewife who takes over the family video store after her husband falls into a coma. She soon discovers that the business is bankrupt and that the only profitable genre is porn. Nines decides to specialize in this genre, transforming the store into the city’s first ‘porn video club’ with the help of a foul-mouthed employee named Chon and a dedicated movie buff.

Elena Anaya, a Goya award-winner, stars in “Cochinas,” with Oslodije producing. Eneko Gutierrez Sola and Aritz Cirbián serve as executive producers, while Carlos del Hoyo and Irene Bohoyo are the scriptwriters. Andrea Jaurrieta directs the series.

Prime Video Spain is also expanding its true-crime offerings with several new docu-series. “Cómo Cazar a un Monstruo” follows YouTuber and filmmaker Carles Tamayo as he seeks justice against a child molester living outside the law. The series, produced by Bambú Producciones, launches on September 6. Another true-crime series, “Medina: El Estafador de Famosos,” focuses on the alleged celebrity scammer Antonio Medina and is set to premiere in October. “Infiltrada en el Búnker,” directed by Pablo de la Chica, explores the longest infiltration of a European pharmaceutical lab and is due next year.

The original documentary “La Joia: Bad Gyal” offers an intimate look at Spanish singer Bad Gyal’s journey to mainstream success, despite the postponement of her debut album. Directed by David Camarero and produced by Vampire Films in collaboration with Double Body, Entrelíneas, and Nanouk Films, the documentary will premiere on Prime Video at the end of this year.

In addition to these new titles, several popular series and shows are returning for new seasons. The romantic drama series “Citas Barcelona,” the entertainment show “Operación Triunfo,” the thriller series “Reina Roja,” the comedy series “La que se Avecina,” and the unscripted series “Pombo” and “Dulceida: Al Desnudo” are all set for new runs. The action-adventure film “Apocalipsis Z: El Principio del Fin” will air on October 31, and trailers for “Citas Barcelona,” the post-apocalyptic comedy series “En Fin,” Elías León Siminiani’s “El Circo de los Muchachos,” and the docuseries “Calleja en el Espacio” were also released.

Sports documentary “Courtois: la Vuelta del Número 1” is set to premiere on September 20, with a trailer already available. Previously announced originals launching in 2025 and beyond include the teen comedy “Viaje de fin de Curso,” starring Berta Castañé and Yolanda Ramos, and the youth drama “Enemigos,” featuring emerging actors Christian Checa and Hugo Welzel.

Prime Video executives also revealed that “Culpa Mía” has become the most-watched international movie in the platform’s history globally. Upcoming original films “La Virgen Roja,” starring Nawja Nimri and Alba Planas, and the teen drama “Sigue mi Voz,” featuring Berta Castañer and Jae Woo, will both launch in cinemas before hitting the streamer on September 27 and February 14, respectively.

Ricardo Cabornero emphasized Prime Video’s commitment to locally-produced content, stating, “Our continued investment in locally-produced series, movies, and live entertainment, coupled with our expanding portfolio of premium channels and our strong movie offering through the Prime Video Store, allows us to deliver unparalleled choice and value to our Prime members in Spain.”

María José Rodríguez, Head of Spanish Originals at Prime Video, added, “The diverse and ambitious slate of Spanish original productions have clearly captured the imagination of both Spanish and global audiences on Prime Video. We are bringing more gripping thrillers, hilarious comedies, captivating live talent shows, and powerful documentaries and believe new titles like ‘Zeta’ and ‘Cochinas’ will enchant and delight even more Prime Video customers around the world.”
