Rescue Dog Has “Been Through So Much” — Now She Needs a New Home

A two-year-old dog, who has endured too much suffering in her short life, is in desperate need of a new home. An animal shelter in Florida posted on Facebook on July 18 that “Angel needs an angel.”

Angel has been waiting to be adopted for over a month at the Humane Society of Tampa Bay. Her journey to the shelter was fraught with challenges. “Angel spent her first year in a home where she was abused in ways no animal should ever experience,” the shelter explained. This trauma left her fearful and very withdrawn. Fortunately, she was rescued by a family who cared for her during her second year of life. Sadly, her owner was later diagnosed with dementia and suffered a stroke, which ultimately made it impossible for her to continue caring for Angel.

While waiting for a new owner, the Humane Society of Tampa Bay has described Angel as a calm and affectionate dog. They shared, “Angel is shy, but once she gains trust, she is very loving and sweet.” She enjoys spending time outdoors and truly has fun playing in the yard.

In photos shared by the Humane Society on their website, Angel can be seen wearing a cone around her head due to an injured nail on one of her paws. She is currently not available for adoption because of parasites that need to be addressed. The agency did not provide further details about her medical situation.

As of July 22, Angel was still listed on the shelter’s website among the dogs looking for a home. Those interested in the adoption process can visit humanesocietytampa.org for more details.

The Humane Society of Tampa Bay declined to provide additional information to McClatchy News on both July 19 and July 22.
